Basic structural element

This paper presents an experimental programme conducted on a number of six reinforced concrete (RC) beams in order to investigate the developments of strain and stress, moment-curvature relationship, failure mode and the ultimate strength on normal sections (USoNS) of this type of basic structural element.

The complexes of some rare earths with DL-2-amino-n-butyric acid were synthesized. The solid complexes have the general formula [Ln(Hbu)4]Cl3 [Ln: Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd and Hbu: CH3CH2CHNH2COOH]. The structure of the complexes have been recognised by the basic of elemental analysis, conductivity measurements, IR spectra and thermal analysis methods. It was found that the DL-2-amino-n-buryic acid utilized amino nitrogen and carboxyl oxygen for bonding.

A series of thylakoid membrane proteins, including PsbX, PsbY and PsbW, are synthesized with cleavable signal peptides yet inserted using none of the known Sec/SRP/Tat/ Oxa1-type insertion machineries. Here, we show that, although superficially similar to Sec-type signal peptides, these thylakoidal signal peptides contain very different determinants.

The transcription factor cAMP response element-binding protein (CREB) plays important roles in gene expression induced by cAMP signaling and is believed to be activated when its Ser133 is phosphorylated. However, the discovery of Ser133-independent activation by the activation of transducer of regulated CREB activity coactivators (TORC) and repression by salt inducible kinase cascades suggests that Ser133-independent regulation of CREB is also important.
