Premature flowering or bolting is an undesirable characteristic that causes severe sugar yield losses and interferes with harvesting. Vernalization is a prerequisite for the floral induction, achieved by exposure to low temperatures for 10–14 weeks.

Sugar beet is an industrial crop cultivated mostly for sucrose production. Today, modern hybridization applications have raised the sugar content to 20%. Considering the increased demand globally, it is required to develop new yield–increasing application strategies. This requires extensive knowledge of the genetic mechanisms to control plant growth and metabolism. Investigation of phytohormones is promising to increase our knowledge of plant growth and developmental processes. Strigolactones are recently introduced plant hormones.

Diversification on the basis of utilization is a hallmark of Beta vulgaris (beet), as well as other crop species. Often, crop improvement and management activities are segregated by crop type, thus preserving unique genome diversity and organization.

Sugar beet (Beta vulgaris subsp. vulgaris) is an economically important crop that provides nearly one third of the global sugar production. The beet cyst nematode (BCN), Heterodera schachtii, causes major yield losses in sugar beet and other crops worldwide.

Third generation sequencing methods, like SMRT (Single Molecule, Real-Time) sequencing developed by Pacific Biosciences, offer much longer read length in comparison to Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) methods. Hence, they are well suited for de novo- or re-sequencing projects.

Lassi is a popular traditional yogurt based drink from the Indian Subcontinent. Lassi is a blend of yogurt, water, spices and sometimes fruits. To increase the physical acceptability of lassi, it has been fortified with betalain powder which provides reddish colour. Colour is an important parameter for sensory analysis and consumer preference. However using synthetic colour could be harmful for health. In today’s progressive world a shift from synthetic to biocolour is observed. Betalain is a biocolour extracted from beet-root (Beta vulgaris).

Formation of reducing sugars during low temperature storage of red beet is detrimental for processing, consumption as vegetable and easily deteriorated when exposed to high temperatures. Most of the analytical methods are time consuming, cost effective and laborious. So, assessing internal red beet quality through statistical methods is alternative as mathematical modeling does not take error in to consideration. These equations contain few parameters and the storability of the product could be predicted before keeping it for storage based on the dependent parameters.

Beetroot (Beta vulgaris L.), also called as garden beet or table beet, is one of the major root vegetable. It is grown in almost all states of India but in small scale only. It produces green tops and a swollen root used both as vegetable and salad. It is highly productive and usually free from pests and diseases (Ado, 1999). A field experiment was conducted during rabi, 2014 in alkali soils.

The present experiment was conducted in postharvest laboratory of Department of Horticulture & Postharvest Technology, Institute of Agriculture to find out the ideal chemical treatment and packaging to increase the postharvest storage life of spinach beet under ambient storage condition. After harvesting the spinach beet plants were treated with different chemicals (0.3% ascorbic acid, 0.3% citric acid, 0.5% common salt, 0.5%sugar, 0.005%benzoic acid and distill water) and packed in various packing materials (perforated LDPE packing, news paper packaging and without packing).

Agronomic practices may need to be adjusted to maximize yield and quality of sugar beet. Thus agronomic package must be always modified. Nanotechnology is one of the new technologies that entered almost all sides of our lives and were used in agriculture production. Two field experiments will be carried out in the experimental farm of the Etsa region at El- Fayoum governorate, Egypt, during the two successive seasons 2015/16 and 2016/17 to investigate the response of yield and quality of sugar beet cv.
