In this study, the as-fabricated nanocomposite was characterized by using physicochemical strategies. The cell-material boundary of the nanocomposite was observed in vitro with human osteoblast cells, and the cell replication was tested. The nanocomposite promoted the bone cell adhesion and proliferation, improved the mechanical strength and repressed the growth of bacterial cells.

For the treatment of hypothyroidism, patients are usually placed on lifelong levothyroxine replacement therapy. Achieving clinical and biochemical euthyroid status is sometimes difficult because of several factors, including poor compliance or poor absorption of levothyroxine in the gut mucosa.

The prognostic value of biochemical tests in critically ill patients with multiple organ failure and suspected bowel ischemia is unknown. Methods: In a prospective observational cohort study intensive care patients were included when the attending intensivist considered intestinal ischemia in the diagnostic workup at any time during intensive care stay.

Intensive care unit (ICU) patients usually have abnormal biochemical and hematological laboratory test results as a consequence of organ dysfunction and underlying disease. Thromboelastography (TEG®) is a point-of-care laboratory analysis that gives an overview of several aspects of the coagulation process.

Hydropriming has the potential to ameliorate the stress-induced ill effects on yields of the crop plants and quality of seed produced. In the present study, half of the fresh seeds of maize hybrid, PEHM 5 and its parental lines (Female - CM 150, Male - CM 151) were subjected to accelerated aging test for bringing down the viability and vigour, thereby creating low vigour lots while high vigour lots consisted of fresh seeds, which were hydroprimed (30 h at 25°C). Half of the hydroprimed seeds were surface dried while the other half were redried back to the original moisture contents.

An integrated approach to the study of taxa of the genus Hypericum occurring in Sicily is proposed. The results of morphological, biochemical, and molecular analyses are combined to better assess the relationships between the species investigated and test the suitability of DNA barcoding technique in the discrimination of these taxa. For the name Hypericum aegypticum subsp. webbii (Spach) N. Robson a lectotype is designated. For Hypericum triquetrifolium Turra a lectotype and a supporting epitype are designated. The presence of Hypericum perforatum L. subsp.

N-acetylcysteine amide (NACA) is a new antioxidant molecule with powerful radical scavenging properties. The aim of this study was to investigate neuroprotective effects of NACA against paraquat (PQ) toxicity in the midbrains of rats by using motor coordination tests and biochemical and histological analysis. Thirty adult Wistar albino rats were divided into three groups: Group 1: control (n = 10), Group 2: PQ (10 mg/kg) (n = 10), and Group 3: PQ (10 mg/kg) + NACA (100 mg/kg) (n = 10). NACA was administrated intraperitoneally 30 min before PQ injection.

Pyometra infections are commonly found in rabbit. In this study, a twoyear-old rabbit with the history of heavy cervico-vaginal discharge was examined. Vaginal swab was collected aseptically and processed for bacterial identification. Gram postitive cocci was identified in gram staining. Staphylococcus aureus was isolated on selective media (Baired Parker Agar) exhibited jet-black colonies with halo around and confirmed by biochemical tests such as catalase positive, oxidase negative and coagulase positive.

In the present study, faecal and blood samples were collected, aseptically, from an elephant arrived to the Veterinary Clinics of the College. Immediately, samples were used for bacterial isolation. A bacterial isolate, isolated from the faecal sample of an elephant was identified at the genus level to be of Escherichia species by adopting Enterobacteriaceae identification kit used for studying biochemical characteristics and carbohydrate utilization tests (Gram negative bacilli showing mainly ONPG positive, oxidase negative and nitrate reduction positive).
