Progressive encephalomyelitis with rigidity and myoclonus (PERM) is a rare neurological condition with paraneoplastic etiology in about 20% of cases, usually presenting before or shortly after the oncological diagnosis is established. PERM associated with anti-glycine receptor antibodies is not previously reported in a patient with bladder cancer.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been reported to serve as potential biomarkers in bladder cancer and play important roles in cancer progression. This study aimed to investigate the biological role of miR-205-3p in bladder cancer. We showed that miR-205-3p was significantly down-regulated in bladder cancer tissues and cells.

The prognosis of patients with advanced biliary tract cancer (BTC) who have progressed on gemcit‑abine plus cisplatin is dismal. Trifluridine/tipiracil (FTD/TPI) and irinotecan have proven efficacy in different gastroin‑ testinal malignancies. We therefore hypothesized that this combination might improve the therapeutic outcome in patients with BTC after failure of first-line treatment.

Bladder cancer (BLCA) represents a highly heterogeneous disease characterized by distinct histological, molecular, and clinical features, whose tumorigenesis and progression require aberrant metabolic reprogramming of tumor cells. However, current studies have not expounded systematically and comprehensively on the metabolic heterogeneity of BLCA.

TUBA1C is an α-tubulin isoform involved in mitosis, and its dysregulation has been implicated in tumor progression. There is still no clear understanding of its role in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA).

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play important roles in many pathophysiological processes, including cancer progression. Namely, lncRNA Receptor-tyrosine-kinase-like orphan receptor-1 antisense 1 (ROR1-AS1) is crucial for cancer occurrence and progression in organs such as the liver or bladder. However, its expression and role in cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) have not been thoroughly explored.

Laminins are high-molecular weight (400~900 kDa) proteins in extracellular matrix, which serve as major component of the basal lamina, and play a crucial role in promoting tumor cell migration. This study aimed at characterizing the role of laminin in promoting cancer development, and elucidating the mechanism of tumor progression driven by laminin-Notch signalling in bladder cancer.

Bladder Cancer (BCa) is a severe genitourinary tract disease with an uncertain pathology. Increasing evidence indicates that the tumor microenvironment plays a decisive role with respect to cancer progression, and that this is driven by tumor cell interactions with stromal components.

Bladder cancer (BLCA) typically has a poor prognosis due to high relapse and metastasis rates. A growing body of evidence indicates that N6-methyladenosine (m6A) and long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play crucial roles in the progression of BLCA and the treatment response of patients with BLCA.

The effective treatment and prognosis prediction of bladder cancer (BLCA) remains a medical problem. Ferroptosis is an iron-dependent form of programmed cell death. Ferroptosis is closely related to tumour occurrence and progression, but the prognostic value of ferroptosis-related genes (FRGs) in BLCA remains to be further clarified. In this study, we identified an FRG signature with potential prognostic value for patients with BLCA.

The tumour microenvironment (TME) not only plays a role during tumour progression and metastasis but also profoundly influences treatment efficacy. Environment-mediated drug resistance is a result of crosstalk between tumour cells and stroma. The presence of a “stromal exhaustion” response is suggested by the T cell exhaustion signature and PD-L1 expression.

Bladder cancer (BC) is the fourth most prevalent neoplasm in men and is associated with high tumour recurrence rates, leading to major treatment challenges. Lysine-specific demethylase 6A (KDM6A) is frequently mutated in several cancer types; however, its effects on tumour progression and clinical outcome in BC remain unclear.

Accumulating evidences demonstrated tumor microenvironment (TME) of bladder cancer (BLCA) may play a pivotal role in modulating tumorigenesis, progression, and alteration of biological features. Currently we aimed to establish a prognostic model based on TME-related gene expression for guiding clinical management of BLCA.

The results showed that the proportion of CD45+CD14+CD163+ mono-macrophage subset infiltrated by tumor tissue was significantly higher than that in paracarcinoma tissues. In bladder cancer tissue, the expression rate of CD40 in CD45+CD14+CD163- mono-macrophage subset was significantly lower than that in CD45+CD14+CD163+ mono-macrophage subset. Similar results were found in the paracarcinoma tissues. We found that, as the proportion of CD11b+F4/80+CD206+ mono-macrophages increased gradually, the difference was statistically significant.

In this study, we propose an integrative framework to systematically investigate epigenetic interactions between miRNA and methylation at the alternatively spliced mRNA level in bladder cancer. Each of these epigenetic regulators has been studied well in cancer progressions; however, their mutual regulatory relationship in cancer still remains unclear.

RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) play crucial and multifaceted roles in post-transcriptional regulation. While RBPs dysregulation is involved in tumorigenesis and progression, little is known about the role of RBPs in bladder cancer (BLCA) prognosis.

Yes-associated protein 1 (YAP 1), the nuclear effector of the Hippo pathway, is a key regulator of organ size and a candidate human oncogene in multiple tumors. However, the expression dynamics of YAP 1 in urothelial carcinoma of the bladder (UCB) and its clinical/prognostic significance are unclear.

Seventy percent of all bladder tumours tend to recur and need intensive surveillance, and a subset of tumours progress to muscle-invasive and metastatic disease. However, it is still difficult to find the adequate treatment for every individual patient as it is a very heterogeneous disease and reliable biomarkers are still missing.
