Bone marrow samples

Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) is known to arise through the pathogenic bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) by interacting with hematopoietic stem cells (HSC). However, due to the strong heterogeneity of MDS patients, it is difficult to find common targets in studies with limited sample sizes. This study aimed to describe sequential molecular changes and identify biomarkers in MSC of MDS transformation.

Aqueous extracts of Euphorbia hirta were used to study the anticlastogenic activity by in vivo rodent micronucleus assay. Mice were administrated two doses, 250 mg/kg and 500 mg/kg orally for a period of seven days and at the end of the seventh day, cyclophosphamide (50 m/kg) was given intraperitoneally. Bone marrow sample were analysed for cytotoxicity and micronucleus. Both the doses were not cytotoxic and clastogenic. There was a significant reduction in the micronucleus formation in bone marrow indicating the anticlastogenic activity of E. hirta.

In the present study 128 samples collected from 66 ducks of various breeds like Batak(28), Moti(34) and Khaki Campbell (6) out of which 112 number of samples from 52 dead birds and 16 number of samples from live birds. blood, liver, swabs from femur bone marrow and also swabs from foot lesions were collected consists of 128 samples in which blood sample (12), swabs from foot lesions(26) of live birds and liver(22), lungs(30) and swab from bone marrow (38) of dead birds. All the samples were processed for routine microbial isolation and identification.

The aggressive variant of large granular lymphocyte（LGL）leukemia is very rare and the prognosis of this disease is poor. A 47-year-old woman with progressive pancytopenia and severe liver damage visited our institute. Upon hospitalization, about 30% LGL was detected in her peripheral blood and bone marrow samples. Flow cytometry was conducted to analyze lymphocytes in the bone marrow, which revealed the presence of CD3 and T-cell receptor（TCR）α／β and absence of CD4, CD8, CD16, CD56, CD22, CD79a, and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT).
