This pathogen causes considerable losses in yields in the field wherever bottle gourd is cultivated. Keeping this in mind, it is advisable for the growers to manage downy mildew disease of bottle gourd by adopting management measures of concomitant treatments.

The present investigation was conducted to assess the genetic variability and genetic diversity of bottle gourd Lagenaria seceraria (Mol.) Standl.] Among 24 genotypes collected from different institute/SAUs during kharif season (2018-2019). Analysis of variance showed significant variation for all traits indicating wide range of variability in genotypes.

The present investigation was carried out in two different seasons with aim to assess the heterobeltosis and standard heterosis in bottle gourd. The present study was comprised of 45 crosses developed through diallel mating design using 10 parents namely, NDBG-49-2 (P1), N. Rashmi (P2), N. Prabha (P3), N. Pooja (P4), Pusa Naveen (P5), Pb. Komal (P6), NDBG S-1 (P7), PBOG-3 (P8), NDBG-11 (P9) and Faizabadi Local (P10) at MES, Vegetable Science, NDUA&T, Kumarganj, Faizabad (U.P.) India during kharif 2015 (E1), and Rabi, 2015-16 (E2).

A field experiment was established at Agricultural Research Farm of Baba Raghav Das Post Graduate College, Deoria (U.P.), to evaluate the influence of organic and inorganic fertilizers on performance of bottle gourd and plant available nutrients. The experiment comprised eleven treatments and three replications performed under Randomised Block Design during summer season (2017 & 2018).

The experiment entitled, response of bottle gourd (Lagenaria siceraria (Mol.) Standl.) to organic nutrient management, was carried out during summer-2016 at Horticulture Instructional Farm, Department of Horticulture, Chimanbhai Patel College of Agriculture, Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University, Sardarkrushinagar (Gujarat). Total nine treatment combinations of organic nutrient were tested in the Randomized Block Design with three replications.

An experiment conducted on bottle gourd to study the path coefficient analysis in bottle gourd at Zonal Agriculture Research Station, Chhindwara (J.N.K.V.V., Jabalpur). The experiment was laid out in RCBD and on the basis of pooled analysis (summer 2008 and kharif 2008). On the basis of pooled analysis correlation coefficient of fruit yield per plant was expressed significant and positive with days to appearance of first male flower, number of male flower per plant, number of female flower per plant, fruit setting percentage, length of fruit, weight of fruit and number of fruits per plant.

The Present study was carried out for characterization of Bottle gourd genotypes based on DUS guidelines. Four Bottle gourd genotypes were characterized based on the DUS guidelines given by PPV and FRA. A total of 31 characters given in DUS guidelines were used for characterization.

The present investigation was carried out with the objective to assess the magnitude and direction of heterosis and to identify good combiners for growth, earliness and yield characters. The maximum heterosis over better parent, the best parent and the commercial check was observed in the cross Bot.G-6-2 X Arka Bahar for all the growth parameters studied except heterobeltiosis for vine length.

The present investigation was carried out on “Effect of different organic manures and PGPR consortium on growth and yield of bottle gourd (Lagenaria siceraria MOL. STANDL.) cv. ABG-1” at Horticultural Research Farm, Department of Horticulture, B. A. College of Agriculture, Anand Agricultural University, Anand, Gujarat during summer2018. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with factorial concept (FRBD) replicated thrice with six level of organic manures application and two level of PGPR consortium of total 12 combination.

Cultivation of resistant genotypes seems to be the best alternative and most economical to keep the activity of the pathogens under control. Thirteen bottle gourd genotypes were evaluated against the leaf spot disease caused by Alternaria cucumerina and anthracnsoe under natural epiphytotic conditions.

An experiment was conducted in bottle gourd to study the effect of three plant growth regulator (PGR) viz., gibberellic acid (GA3), Naphthalene acetic acid (NAA)and ethrel for growth trait and fruit characters of bottle gourd foliage application of Ethrel @ 200 ppm was found beneficial for number of fruits per vine, fruit yield (kg/vine), days to 1st harvest, whereas maximum fruit length, fruits weight and fruits girth was obtained by the application of distilled water however maximum vine length, total number of node per vine was obtained by the foliage application of GA3 @ 150 ppm.
