Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia is an autosomal dominant condition with an estimated prevalence of 1 in 5000. It is characterized by the presence of abnormalities of vascular structures, and may affect many organ systems, including the lungs, brain, spinal cord, gastrointestinal tract, and liver.

Brain arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are rare congenital developmental vascular lesions, and often presents with symptoms upon rupture. The controversy exists as to whether pregnancy confers an increased risk of intracranial hemorrhage. The diagnosis of brain AVMs, in the absence of brain imaging, is challenging in resource-limited settings, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa.

Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is sudden bleeding into the subarachnoid space. The most common cause of spontaneous SAH is a ruptured aneurysm. Symptoms include sudden, severe headache, usually with loss or impairment of consciousness. It has a lot of dangerous complications especially re-bleeding and vasospasm which are the major causes of death and disability. Objective: To study on clinical characteristics, computed tomography brain imaging, causes and complications of subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Cavernous malformations are clusters of abnormal and hyalinized capillaries without interfering brain tissue. Here, we present a cavernous malformation operated under awake conditions, due to location, in an eloquent area and using intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging due to patient’s movement upon the awake phase.

Agitation is common in subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), and sedation with midazolam, propofol and dexmedetomidine is essential in agitation management. Previous research shows the tendency of dexmedetomidine and propofol in improving long-term outcome of SAH patients, whereas midazolam might be detrimental.

Intracranial-pressure (ICP) monitoring is considered standard care for severe traumatic brain injury and is used frequently, but the efficacy of treatment based on monitoring in patients with hemorrhagic stroke has not been rigorously assessed. In this study, we investigated the clinical value of ICP monitoring in patients with hemorrhagic stroke.

Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is a common neurosurgical emergency, and early brain injury (EBI) plays an important role in acute brain injury of SAH. Our objective is to investigate the effect of stellate ganglion block (SGB) on the clinical prognosis of patients with SAH (registration number ChiCTR2000030910).

In Tirthahalli of Shivamogga District of Karnataka State, 11 Malnada Gidda cattle of different age group succumbed to toxicity and exhibited the clinical signs of anorexia, shivering, nervousness, lethargy and wobbling gait. Ailing animals were treated symptomatically with diazepam, xylazine, fluids and B-complex vitamins with administration of activated charcoal. On obtaining the history and visit to the affected area, it was evident that the animals had consumed the fruits of the plant Anamirta cocculus.

Identification of early signs of hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has proven of prognostic significance. Yet, the importance of intracranial hemorrhage (ICH), being present concomitantly had not been investigated yet, despite the known influence of hypothermia on hemostasis.

Moyamoya disease (MMD) involves progressive occlusion of the intracranial internal carotid artery resulting in formation of moyamoya-like vessels at the base of the brain. It can be characterized by hemorrhage or ischemia. Direct vascular bypass is the main and most effective treatment of MMD. However, patients with MMD differ from those with normal cerebral vessels.

Clinical assessment reveals that patients after surgery of cardiopulmonary bypass or coronary bypass experience postoperative cognitive dysfunction. This study aimed to investigate whether resuscitation after a hemorrhagic shock (HS) and/or mild cerebral ischemia caused by a unilateral common carotid artery occlusion (UCCAO) can cause brain injury and concomitant neurological dysfunction, and explore the potential mechanisms.

Stroke remains the leading cause of death and disability worldwide. This fact highlights the need to search for potential drug targets that can reduce stroke-related brain damage. We showed recently that a glycogen synthase kinase-3β (GSK-3β) inhibitor attenuates tissue plasminogen activator-induced hemorrhagic transformation after permanent focal cerebral ischemia.
