The genus Clarkus with a redescription of Clarkus sheri females is recorded and illustrated for the first time in Vietnam. Eight females of Clarkus sheri were collected from several natural reserves: Bac Me (Ha Giang province), Van Ban (Lao Cai province), Vu Quang (Ha Tinh province), Kon Chu Rang (Gia Lai province) and Me Linh (Vinh Phuc province).

A new ciliate species Colpodidium zelihayildizae n. sp., which was discovered in a dry irrigation channel in Van (Turkey), was investigated morphologically using standard live and silver impregnation methods, and its SSU rRNA gene phylogeny was provided.

The study was conducted on six healthy non-descript goats of either sex weighing between 20-25 kg by administrating atropine sulphate (0.04 mg/kg I/M) followed by medetomidine (10 µg/kg I/M) and 15 min. later followed by induction of anaesthesia with ketofol (5mg/kg I/V). After medetomidine administration, lowering of head was observed in all the animals within 4.20±0.33 min. After ketofol injection, there was rapid and smooth onset of anaesthesia (0.550.15 min). There was marked sedation with protrusion of tongue from buccal cavity, profuse salivation was noticed.

The use of medaka fish as a candidate animal model has been started which has similarities with the Zebra fish that was developed as an animal model. Sulawesi medaka fish (Oryzias celebensis) is a type of medaka fish that are endemic in the region of South Sulawesi. This research aims to observe the histology of anterior gut of Sulawesi medaka fish. Histological study on the anterior gut of Sulawesi medaka fish using buccal cavity and oesophagus organs. Histological observation showed that the mouth and buccal cavity are shared by the respiratory and digestive systems.

Coomansus venezolanus (Loof, 1964) Jairajpuri & Khan, 1977 from Cao Loc, Lang Son province is described and illustrated and represents a new record for Vietnam. The species is characterized by its body size, 1.9-2.1 mm long, a strongly sclerotized buccal cavity with apex of dorsal tooth situated at 26-30% of buccal cavity length from anterior end and vulva at 60-64% of body length from anterior end.

On the initiative of the International Dental Federation, a meeting of consultants was convened by the World Health Organization in 1964 to consider the classification of diseases of the buccal cavity in relation to the impending Eighth (1965) Revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD). It was recognized that a manual and guide should be compiled to assist in the application of the ICD to dentistry and stomatology. Accordingly, a text was drafted and tested in four countries, then revised and published for general use.
