Pediatric low-grade glioma (pLGG) is essentially a single pathway disease, with most tumors driven by genomic alterations affecting the mitogen-activated protein kinase/ERK (MAPK) pathway, predominantly KIAA1549::BRAF fusions and BRAF V600E mutations. This makes pLGG an ideal candidate for MAPK pathway-targeted treatments.

Ebook "Synthesis and vaccine evaluation of the tumor associated carbohydrate antigen RM2 from prostate cancer" focuses on the synthesis and vaccine evaluation of the prostate tumor- associated carbohydrate antigen RM2. The author first presents the use of the [1+2+3] one-pot sequential strategy to successfully synthesise the RM2 antigen and its analogues as single stereoisomers in every glycosylation step, producing good yields and stereoselectivity.

Familial ovarian cancer (OC) cases not harbouring pathogenic variants in either of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 OC-predisposing genes, which function in homologous recombination (HR) of DNA, could involve pathogenic variants in other DNA repair pathway genes.

Ebook "Fragment-based drug discovery and X-ray crystallography (Topics in current chemistry, Volume 317)" bring together chapters by a number of practitioners in the field, drawn from both the pharmaceutical industry and academia. Our aim has been to highlight the important roles that X-ray crystallography plays in the fragmentapproach: as a sensitive technique for primary screening, its use in combination with other biophysical techniques to allow robust hit validation, and its importance in providing structural information to guide progression from hit to clinical candidate.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most prevalent cancer in the world, yet the sensitivity and specificity of biomarkers for CRC diagnosis are insufficient. In the present study, we performed a protein microarray screening method to identify antibody markers for CRC. Inhibitor of growth family 1 (ING1) was identified as a candidate tumor antigen for CRC using protein microarrays (ProtoArray).

In the present study, the effects of different dietary protein levels on salema porgy, Sarpa salpa (Linnaeus, 1758) juveniles were investigated. As a result, S. salpa demonstrated better growth with low protein diets, showing that this marine fish could be a promising candidate for a sustainable and environment friendly aquaculture industry.

Our previous RNA-sequencing study revealed that the ATF3 and CDKN1A genes were remarkably differentially expressed between the mammary glands of lactating Holstein cows with extremely high and low milk protein and fat percentage so that both of them were considered as candidates for milk composition.

Androstenone is one of the major compounds responsible for boar taint, a pronounced urine-like odor produced when cooking boar meat. Several studies have identified quantitative trait loci (QTL) for androstenone level on Sus scrofa chromosome (SSC) 6. For one of the candidate genes in the region SULT2A1, a difference in expression levels in the testis has been shown at the protein and RNA level.

In this study, alkyl hydroperoxide reductase (AhpC) from M. bovis was evaluated as a new candidate vaccine antigen against TB in BALB/c mice model. The ahpC gene was amplified from M.bovis genome, cloned, and expressed in Escherichia coli. Vaccine antigen AhpC was formulated with Montanide ISA 61 VG, an oil-based emulsion adjuvant. Both IgG and IL-12 responses were observed in mice after administering the formulation both as a subunit vaccine alone and also as a booster vaccine for BCG immunization.

Rolling of leaves (RL) is a phenomenon commonly found in grasses. Morphology of the leaf is an important agronomic trait in field crops especially in rice; therefore, majority of the rice breeders are interested in RL. There are only few studies with respect to RL of wheat and barley; however, the information regarding the genetic base of RL with respect to the shape of leaf in rye is lacking.

In our previous genome-wide association study (GWAS) on the piglet splay leg (PSL) syndrome, the homer scaffolding protein 1 (HOMER1) was detected as a candidate gene. The aim of this work was to further verify the candidate gene by sequencing the gene and find the significantly associated mutation.
