An on –farm trial was conducted on various farmers field in different villages of Araria district during financial year 2016-17. This trail was conducted to overcome weed infestation during cultivation of chilli in farmers field. It leads to reduction in yield; quality of produce is inferior as compared to better quality produce, increased the cost of cultivation due to manual hand weeding by laborers and reduced the benefit cost ratio. The trial was conducted in randomized block design with three treatments and ten replications.

The major constraint is low productivity of vegetable crops by following the nonrecommended cultivation techniques. The results of front line demonstration revealed that average yield of 225, 325, 138 and 250 q/ ha was obtained in Ropar, Nurpurbedi, Sri Anandpur Sahib, Chamkaur Sahib and Morinda blocks of district Ropar during the year 2017-2020, respectively.

The present investigations was carried out to study the effect of hot water seed treatment comprised of different ranges of temperature (47-49, 50-52 and 53-55 °C) and discrete duration of time (30, 45 and 60 min.). The seeds of bell pepper and their most important seed-borne pathogens (Alternaria spp., Curvuleria spp., Penicillium spp., Fusarium spp. Colletotrichum spp.) have been investigated in laboratory. Thee numbers of infected seeds were observed and recorded daily and per cent incidence was evaluated.

To evaluate the prospect of small-scale protected cultivation unit in homestead areas for growing off-season vegetables, low-cost bamboo made structures were constructed at Dhalaguri and Uttar Chokowakheti villages in the sub-Himalayan Terai region of West Bengal, India. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of salinity on germination and emergence of chilli cultivars and to investigate the ability for genetic salt tolerance during germination and seedling growth. Although some of the chilli genotypes have salinity tolerance to some extent, more attention is required to assess the cultivars for salinity resistance/tolerance so as to screen them and select best types suitable to cultivate under areas prone to soil salinity.
