Asparagine is a very important nitrogen transport and storage compound in plants due to its high nitrogen/carbon ratio and stability. Asparagine intracellular concentration depends on a balance between asparagine biosynthesis and degradation. The main enzymes involved in asparagine metabolism are asparagine synthetase (ASN), asparaginase (NSE) and serine-glyoxylate aminotransferase (SGAT).

Molybdenum (Mo) is an essential micronutrient for almost all biological systems, which holds key positions in several enzymes involved in carbon, nitrogen and sulfur metabolism. In general, this transition metal needs to be coordinated to a unique pterin, thus forming a prosthetic group named molybdenum cofactor (Moco) at the catalytic sites of molybdoenzymes.

Nicotine-degrading microorganisms (NDMs) have recently received much attention since they can consume nicotine as carbon and nitrogen source for growth. In our previous work, we isolated an efficient nicotine-degrading fungus Aspergillus oryzae 112822 and first proposed a novel demethylation pathway of nicotine degradation in fungi.

The non-structural carbohydrates (NSCs), carbon (C), nitrogen (N), and phosphorus (P) are important energy source or nutrients for all plant growth and metabolism. S. superba is better adapted to low light condition than C. lanceolata through enlarged leaf area and increased carbohydrate reserves that allow the plant to cope with low light stress.

The extensive use of fascinating colorful dyes during textile manufacturing indirectly causes severe environmental problem. These dyes exert toxic effects on terrestrial and aquatic life forms, imparting photosynthesis and other metabolic processes. Color is an escalating problem in industrial wastewater. Hence, there is a pressing need to eradicate this contaminant for a sustainable environment. This investigation was directed to isolate and characterized potential bacteria which can efficiently decolorize common recalcitrant textile dye Yellow CRG.

The present study was undertaken to collect baseline data on the Physico-chemical parameters from the Baigul reservoir of district - Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand located in the Tarai region of Uttarakhand. The ecology of reservoir plays a vital role in biological productivity. The nutrient status of water and soil plays the most significant role in governing the production of planktonic organisms.

Nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) for the crop plants is of great concerns throughout the world. The burgeoning population of the world needs crop genotypes responding to higher nitrogen and showing a direct relationship to yield with the use of nitrogen inputs i.e. high nitrogen-responsive genotypes. However, for fulfilling the high global demand of organic produce, it requires the development of low nitrogen-responsive genotypes with greater nitrogen use efficiency and grain yields. Nitrogen is the most important inorganic nutrient for plant growth.

The ureides allantoin and allantoate are major metabolic intermediates of purine catabolism with high nitrogen-to-carbon ratios. Ureides play a key role in nitrogen utilization in ureide-type legumes, but their effects on growth and development in non-legume plants are poorly understood.

Two types of glandular trichomes i.e. Capitate triangular glandular and Capitate globular glandular were recorded in sunflower. Nitrogen availability regulates globular glandular trichomes development from epidermal cells by cell division via cross talk of cytokinin in roots to plant metabolic pathways in leaves. The size of trichomes on sunflower leaves may be altered with the amino acid composition and levels mobilized from older leaves under nitrogen deficiency.

Nitrogen (N) and sulphur (S), being essential macronutrients, have important roles in microalgae metabolism. Effects of N- or S -shortage were investigated in the green microalgae Chlorella s o-rokiniana subjected to 24 h of starvation, by measuring the glutamine synthetase (GS) and O-ace - tylserine(thiol)lyase (OASTL) activities, p roteins and amino acids levels. To test possible met a-bolic impact related to carbon (C) metabolism in response to N- or S -deprivation, starch and total C, N and S contents were also determin ed. The growth of C.

The variation pattern of NCP with the ordinance was consistent for all treatments. Although differences among treatments were not statistically significant, average NCP values were lowest under CO2 enrichment conditions. NCP was lower at a high CO2 level and ambient nitrogen concentration compared to when nutrient availability was higher, suggesting that the low nutrient availability may modulate the community response to CO2 enrichment.

Aminotransferases catalyse synthetic and degradative reactions of amino acids, and serve as a key linkage between central carbon and nitrogen metabolism in most organisms. In this study, three aminotransferases (AT1, AT2 and AT3) were purified and characterized fromHydrogenobacter thermophilus, a hydrogen-oxidizing chemolithoautotrophic bacterium, which has been reported to possess unique features in its carbon and nitrogen anabolism.
