  • A clinical investigation was conducted with the objective to isolate and identify the uterine aerobic bacteria in post partum crossbred dairy cows suffering from metritis and antibiotic sensitivity testing using disc diffusion test. Fourteen post partum crossbred dairy cows found positive for clinical metritis at Research cum Development Project (RCDP) on Cattle, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth (MPKV), Rahuri Maharashtra State were investigated in the present study.

  • The present study was carried out for the isolation, identification and molecular characterization of Brucella species. A total of 50 samples were collected from cattle and buffalo suffering from abortions and other reproductive disorders in and around Ludhiana, Punjab. Out of the 50 samples of fetal stomach contents (25), uterine discharges (10), vaginal mucus (8) and placenta (7) processed for isolation of Brucella of which a total of four isolate were obtained and identified biochemically. All the 4 isolates were typed as biotype 1.

  • The present study was conducted on 30 cattle presented at the institutional veterinary hospital which were diagnosed of suffering for the small bowel intussusception. Detailed signalment including age, sex, breed, pregnancy status and season were recorded in all the animals. History of feed and water intake, defecation status, rumination status, type of feeding, any recent change in feed, history of deworming and feeding of mineral mixture was also recorded.Clinical signs such as signs of colic, abdominal distension, rumen impaction, laboured breathing and ruminal bloat were accessed.

  • The present study was conducted on thirty cattle suffering from small bowel intussusception presented at the institutional veterinary hospital. The animals were divided into three equal groups depending upon the duration of intussusception since the first signs of colic appear viz. Group I (n=10) (since 48 hours), Group II (n=10) (>48 hours to 120 hours and Group III (n=10) (120 hours to 192 hours). The data from these animals was compared with the values obtained from the 6 healthy animals (control group) from the organised farm.
