Cavitation bubble

In the paper "Shock waves emitted at the collapse of a laser-induced cavitation bubble in the vicinity of a free surface", we investigated the dynamic of a cavitation bubble induced by laser ablation in liquid in the vicinity of a free surface. The observation was conducted using high-speed laser stroboscopic videography in photoelasticity mode. We showed the bubble contracted faster in the vertical direction and formed a flat bubble at the minimum contraction. At the collapse, the bubble emitted multiple shock waves.

A new semi-empirical technic has been established relying on the linkage between the chemistry in the bulk liquid and that taking place in the acoustic cavitation bubble. The open-source COPASI software has been used for the optimization of number density according to the total yield of a single bubble and the fitting of the experimental yield of hydrogen peroxide in the sonicated solution. It was observed that the number density is increased with the rise of ultrasound frequency from 200 to 1140 kHz, independently of the saturating gas nature (O2, Ar or air).

The present paper is focused on the impact of the dissolution mechanism of the different species (formed within a single bubble) on bubble chemistry. This process is analyzed on a range of ultrasound frequencies from 140 to 515 kHz, at an acoustic intensity of 1 W/cm². The obtained findings are compared to the results available in the literature.
