Whilst cervical cancer is a mostly preventable disease, it is currently one of the most frequent cancers that affect Vietnamese women. One risk factor (among others) leading to this status is the fact that women have not been systematically screened using an appropriate and easy-to-access screening test, and hence timely and effective treatment is delayed.

Screening for Specific Cancers Widespread screening for cervical, colon, and likely breast cancer is beneficial for certain age groups. A number of organizations have considered whether or not to endorse routine use of certain screening tests. Because these groups have not used the same criteria to judge whether a screening test should be endorsed, they have arrived at different recommendations.
