Characterization of macronutrient

Phosphorus (P) is one of the major essential macronutrients for biological growth and metabolism of plants. Tea (Camellia sinensis L) plantation requires adequate amount of P for the proper yield of tea leaves. However, due to acidic nature of tea growing soils, phosphorus fixation is a common phenomenon. A close look at the different pools of soil P reveals, major portion of soil P is present in the form of organic P.

Phosphate is the key macronutrient required for the growth of plants. The soluble forms of phosphorus when applied to soil are rendered insoluble by undergoing chemical fixation. The soil collected from organic farm, SKUAST- Jammu was investigated for screening the phosphate solubilizing bacteria. In the present study, soil samples were collected from rice rhizosphere of sixteen varieties grown in OFRC, SKUAST- Jammu. This study revealed the existence of Phosphate Solublizing bacteria in the rhizosphere soils of rice.

Phosphorous is one of the important macronutrient along with nitrogen which limit the growth, development, and yield of the plant. The soluble forms of phosphorus when applied to soil become insoluble through chemical fixation. The Phosphate solublizing bacteria (PSB) plays a very vital role in making soluble phosphorous available to the plants. A study was undertaken in rice growing area of Jammu district, J&K, to screen the phosphate solubilizing microorganisms from the rhizosphere soil. The soil samples were collected from two rice growing blocks, R. S.

Nitrogen (N), referred to as a “life element”, is a macronutrient essential for optimal plant growth and yield production. Amino acid (AA) permease (AAP) genes play pivotal roles in root import, long-distance translocation, remobilization of organic amide-N from source organs to sinks, and other environmental stress responses.
