The ketalization reaction of glycerol with acetone for solketal formation was performed using a gel-type ion exchange resin, Indion 225H in a solvent-free medium. The experimental parameters molar ratio, catalyst loading, rate of stirring, and temperature were analyzed and evaluated for their impact on the conversion of glycerol. A kinetic model based on the Langmuir–Hinshelwood–Hougen– Watson (LHHW) equation described the kinetics of the heterogeneous system.

A novel melamine–formaldehyde resin (MFR) supported solid acid with Lewis and Brønsted acid sites was synthesized through the immobilization of acidic ionic liquid and cuprous ion on MFR. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) characterization showed that addition of PEG-2000 in the synthesis of MFR could promote the formation of regular particles with diameters around 3.7 µm. The XRD pattern demonstrated that some cuprous ions were aggregated.

2-Acetylpyridine-4-phenyl-3-thiosemicarbazone (APPT) ligand was incorporated onto Amberlite XAD-2 resin through an azo spacer and characterized by FTIR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, TGA, and SEM analysis. The synthesized resin was used for the preconcentration of Pb(II), Zn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Cd(II) ions. The sorbed metal ions were eluted with 10 mL of 2.0 mol L−1 HCl and determined by microsample injection coupled flame atomic spectrometry (MIS-FAAS).

This polymeric ligand was reacted with PdCl 2 to obtain a polymeric Pd(0) complex. The TEM image of the Pd catalyst showed good dispersion of catalytic sites. The Pd catalyst exhibits excellent activity and stability in copper-free Sonogashira–Hagihara cross-coupling reactions under aerobic conditions. This protocol can be applied efficiently to the coupling reactions of chloro- as well as iodo- and bromo-arenes. The catalyst can be reused several times without any considerable decrease in its activity.

The metal complexes are retained on resin at pH 6.0 and eluted with 1.0 mol L −1 HCl in acetone in both methods. After the optimum conditions were determined, the methods were applied to seawater, stream water, rice, lentil, tea, tobacco, bulgur, chickpea, wheat, red pepper, black pepper, peppermint, and dried eggplant samples in order to determine the levels of copper and cadmium.

The aqua-bis(ethylenediamine)-chloro-copper(II) chloride complex, [Cu(en)2(H2O)(Cl)]Cl (1), was synthesized by direct interaction of CuCl2 ×2H2O with pepa (pepa is a polyethylenepolyamine containing ethylenediamine (en)). The crystalline complex 1 was characterized by IR spectra and structurally studied. Crystals of this complex consist of the [Cu(en)2(H2O)(Cl)]+ discrete cations, whose Cu2+ ion is chelated by two en molecules.

Immediate preconcentration and spectrophotometric methods have been developed for the determination of trace amounts of cupric ion (Cu(II)) and nickel ion (Ni(II)) through a solid phase extraction with XAD-4-N,N’-bis- (salicylidene) cyclohexanediamine (XAD-4-SCHD) resin and a complex color reaction of the ions with 2,6-dimethylmorpholine dithiocarbamate (DMMDTC) in Triton X-100 media. A high preconcentration factor of 125 was achieved.

Melamine-formaldehyde resin (MFR) microparticles with average diameters of 1.06 µm were synthesized with PEG-20000 as the particle-forming agent. Palladium nanoparticles were entrapped in and adsorbed on the MFR microparticles, consecutively. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to characterize the morphologies of MFR microparticles. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transition electron microscopy (TEM) showed that the palladium nanoparticles entrapped in the MFR microparticles dispersed much more homogeneously than those adsorbed on the MFR microparticles.

Resins coated with nickel/nickel boride nanoparticles were used to remove brilliant green, methyl violet, methylene blue, phenosafranine, and brilliant cresyl blue from water. The effects of pH, adsorbent dose, contact time, and initial dye concentration on the adsorption efficiencies were investigated. The point of zero charge for the adsorbent was pH 9.5. Isotherm studies were conducted using Langmuir, Freundlich, and Dubinin–Radushkevich models, and thermodynamic studies were also performed. Adsorption of the five dyes was found to obey the Langmuir isotherm model and was endothermic.

The paper describes a novel dip-and-gauge hand-held sensor device for the rapid, cost-effective, and on-site detection of bisphenol A and arsenic in drinking water samples. Different working electrode diameters ranging from 1.5 mm to 4 mm were designed and fabricated to construct a new electrochemical biosensor. The sensor was employed for the chronoamperometric detection of bisphenol A and voltammetric determination of arsenic in drinking water samples. Bisphenol A measurements resulted in a detection limit of 10 ng mL−1 with a linear range of 0–4000 ng mL−1.

In this study, the synthesis, characterization, and properties of a short oil length chain–stopped(rapid) alkyd resin is investigated. Gum rosin modified alkyd resin (RA-GR) was prepared using soybean oil, phthalic anhydride, glycerin and gum rosin acid. An alkyd modified with benzoic acid (RA-BA) was also prepared for comparison. FTIR analyses and GPC measurements of the alkyds were used for characterization. Other properties such as the viscosity, acid value, and solid content of the final resins were determined.

Corydalis yanhusuo W.T. Wang alkaloids are mainly divided into three categories: Protoberberine, prototropine and aporphine alkaloids. Therefore, we have taken into account these three alkaloid contents when extracting and purifying crude drugs, which is essential for the quality control of C. yanhusuo and its derivative products.
