In cirrhotic patients, variceal bleeding remains a major cause of death. After a variceal bleeding episode, mortality and rebleeding rates spike for the first 6 weeks before levelling off. We aimed to evaluate the performance of AIMS65 score in comparison with Child-Turcotte-Pugh (CTP) score and model for end-stage liver disease (MELD) score in predicting 6-week mortality and rebleeding in cirrhotic patients with variceal bleeding.

Variceal bleeding is a severe complicaton of portal hypertension due to cirrhosis with high rate of motality. The aims of this study was to compare the accuracy of CTP - crea (creatinine-modified Child Turcotte Pugh score) with traditional CTP and MELD score for predicting in rebleeding and mortality within first five days and 6-week in cirrhotic patients with acute variceal bleeding.

Spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP) is a major complication of cirrhosis and ascites and is responsible for significant morbidity and mortality, The aim of this work is to determine prognostic factors and scores for SBP-related in-hospital mortality, compare the predictive power of CP, MELD, SOFA and AIMS65scores for the prediction of the mortality also to identify the best score cut-off point.
