In this paper, techniques as popular math-tools for sensing algorithms are mentioned. Due to assumption from the knowledge of primary signal, algorithms are categorized by approaches to present. Additionally, motivated by sensing in TV frequency range, the authors narrow the investigation on algorithms for the primary signals of digital video broadcasting.

In this paper, new energy harvesting-based transmission schemes are proposed to improve the outage probability and throughput in underlay cognitive radio networks. In this system, a secondary source can harvest energy from a power beacon (PB) and/or a primary transmitter (PT) to transmit data to a secondary destination in the presence of a primary receiver.

In this study, we clarify fundamental features of the framework and clear out the relations between them. Then based primarily on the power allocation factors, we examine interference between cognitive sensors and primary sensors even as enhancing throughput of the network. Eventually, Matlab/Simulink based simulation is conducted to verify the analysis.

In this paper, we analyze an underlay two-way decode-and-forward scheme in which secondary relays use successive interference cancellation (SIC) technology to decode data of two secondary sources sequentially, and then generate a coded signal by superposition coding (SC) technology, denoted as SIC-SC protocol. The SIC-SC protocol is designed to operate in two time slots under effects from an interference constraint of a primary receiver and residual interference of imperfect SIC processes.

This paper proposes to use Expectation-Maximization algorithm to estimate noise power in case of missing data combined with genetic algorithm to optimize weight vectors by maximizing the probability of detection. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms the traditional methods in the sense of the performance of energy detection based spectrum sensing for CRN.

This paper investigates a cognitive radio network where a secondary sender assists a primary transmitter in relaying primary information to a primary receiver and also transmits its own information to a secondary recipient. This sender is capable of jamming to protect secondary and/or primary information against an eavesdropper and self-powering by harvesting radio frequency energy of primary signals. Security capability of both secondary and primary networks are analyzed in terms of secrecy outage probability.

In a cognitive radio network (CRN), a preempted secondary user (SU) is placed in a call level queue to wait for accessing another free channel. If the availability of channels is transparent to SUs, packets will be generated during their waiting time and the performance of the CRN will be influenced by which way to handle these packets. In this paper, the call level queue is departed into two parts, delay queue and discard queue.

Our objective is to enhance the secrecy performance of the secondary user (SU) in the presence of passive eavesdropper, whose channel state information (CSI) is unknown at the transmitter side. Two beamforming techniques are proposed; transmit beamforming (BF) and beamforming with jamming (BFJ). We investigate the impact of using artificial jamming (AJ) signal in improving the secrecy performance of the SU in underlay CRNs, where the AJ noise signal is used to confuse the eavesdropper’s channel.

In this article, a method for the detection of the spectrum with the purpose of detecting the presence of bands of unoccupied frequencies is proposed. The method used is the matched filter. The performance was assessed by using the MATLAB based on the AWGN channel.
