Ebook Brand new justice: How branding places and products can help the developing world, now in a revised paperback edition, systematically analyses the success stories of the Top Thirteen nations, demonstrating that their wealth is based on the 'last mile' of the commercial process: buying raw materials and manufacturing cheaply in third world countries, these countries realise their lucrative profits by adding value through finishing, packaging and marketing and then selling the branded product on to the end-user at a hugely inflated price.

The flavanone glycoside naringin, which is abundant in the very immature pomelo peel cultivated in Vietnam, has been demonstrated to have potential use in semisynthesis into other flavonoid compounds, especially apigenin, which exhibits several biological properties and has a greater commercial value. In this study, we carried out an oxidation reaction on flavanone backbone to semisynthesize apigenin with I2 catalyst in some environmentally friendly solvents such as a replacement for the reaction in the pyridine solvent, which is thought to be a non-green solvent.

Binder jetting is an additive manufacturing technique in which powdered material is sequentially laid down and printed on by an ink binder, in a selective manner, to form a 3D object. Unfortunately work in this area relevant to food materials is largely unpublished, however a typical application of this technique is sugar powder bound by a water and alcohol based ink with optional colour or flavour demonstrated by commercial ventures.

The purpose of this study was to determine if commercially available adamantane carboxylic acids act by mitrochondrial mechanisms similar to NAs found in OSPW. Mitochondria isolated from rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) liver were exposed to commercially available adamantane acids, 3-hydroxyadamantane-1-carboxylic acid (CAS 42711-75-1) and 3,5-dimethyladamantane-1-carboxylic acid (CAS 14670-94-1), or to NAs extracted and purified from OSPW.

Transcriptomic analyses reveal physiological changes in sweet orange roots affected by citrus blight
Citrus blight is a very important progressive decline disease of commercial citrus. The etiology is unknown, although the disease can be transmitted by root grafts, suggesting a viral etiology. Diagnosis is made by demonstrating physical blockage of xylem cells that prevents the movement of water.

Embryonic mortality is a major concern in the commercial swine industry and primarily occurs early in gestation, but also during mid-gestation (~ days 50–70). Previous reports demonstrated that the embryonic loss rate was significant lower in Meishan than in commercial breeds (including Duroc). Most studies have focused on embryonic mortality in early gestation, but little is known about embryonic loss during mid-gestation.

The average fatty acid (FA) composition of canola oil is made up of 62% oleic acid (C18:1n9), 19% linoleic acid (C18:2n6), 9% linolenic acid (C18:3n3) and 7% saturated FA (SFA). We investigated whether boreal climate (7.5-17.2 C) favorably altered the FA composition of canola. Results indicate that canola cultivated in boreal climatic conditions had approximately twice the levels of omega-3 FA (17-20%) compared to canola from other growing areas (9%).

The aim of this study was to evaluate the biological efficiency and main bioactive components of three G. lucidum strains, viz. GA1, GA2, and GA3, cultivated in Tam Dao town. The results demonstrated that all strains were capable of growing well on PDA medium supplemented with rice bran. The time required for complete colonization was 9 days. All tested strains of G. lucidum were able to adapt to climate conditions and produce fruiting bodies with satisfactory yield (13-17%), and therefore, they could be considered suitable candidates for commercial cultivation of G. lucidum in Tam Dao.

Dengue infections are currently one of the most rapidly emerging arboviral infections in the world. There is high mortality associated with severe dengue infection so we conducted study to predict various factors indicating severity of dengue infection. This cross- sectional study conducted in tertiary care hospital of central India. Data associated with various clinical features of dengue infection collected in predesigned questionnaire.

Nanotechnology in particular carbon nanomaterials, such as carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene, is both technologically and commercially important. This is clearly seen from the amount of scientific and production activities in the last two decades. Carbon nanomaterials have been portrayed as the materials of the 21st century, in a similar manner that Si technology/information technology and petrochemicals have significantly contributed to the worldwide development in the last century.

Sickle cell anemia is a serious genetic health problem dominated in Tharu community of western Nepal. Molecular methods like PCR and RFLP are the best method to identify Sickle c ell anemia trait. Molecular analysis needed many steps and expensive chemicals and Kits. The aim of this research was to develop a simple and cheapest method to process from whole blood sample for the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) without the use of expensive reagents and Kits.

Self-organization of nodes in mobile ad hoc networks using evolutionary games and genetic algorithms
In this paper, we present a distributed and scalable evolutionary game played by autonomous mobile ad hoc network (MANET) nodes to place themselves uniformly over a dynamically changing environment without a centralized controller. A node spreading evolutionary game, called NSEG, runs at each mobile node, autonomously makes movement decisions based on localized data while the movement probabilities of possible next locations are assigned by a forced-based genetic algorithm (FGA).

Toothpaste is a gel dentifrice used with a toothbrush as an accessory to clean, keep and promote oral hygiene. The literature review suggests that there are many different formulations of toothpastes and that each of their individual components present specific functions. The concentration of the toothpaste ingredients must be appropriately chosen taking into account the purposes of the toothpaste. Biosurfactants are considered as suitable molecules for application in many formulations such as in toothpaste one.
