Composition of buffalo milk

A total of 18 Murrah buffaloes of 1st to 3 rd parity were selected to study the effect of Body Condition Score (BCS) in milk production, milk composition and reproductive performance of lactating Murrah buffaloes. The Murrah buffaloes were distributed into three different groups with six animals in each group based on their pre-calving BCS (15 days before expected date of calving) namely G1 (2.50 - 3.00), G2 (3.25 - 3.75) and G3 (4.00 and above).

This study evaluated the effect of dietary monensin supplementation on nutrient intake, milk yield and milk quality of Lactating Murrah Buffaloes during early lactation stage receiving concentrate and sugar graze fodder. Twelve lactating Murrah buffaloes (567.50 kg of live weight; initial days in milk = 52.83 ± 10.24; milk yield = 6-8 kg/d) were randomly allocated to two groups depending upon the body weight and days in milk.

The study was conducted to examine the effect of composite feed additive on fluctuations in weekly milk production and milk composition in lactating buffaloes. The experiment was carried out in buffalo farm ICAR-CIRB Hisar. Murrah lactating buffaloes (n=18) (Bubalus bubalis) (avg. milk yield 10.83± 1.56 kg) and (avg. live weight, 507.24 ± 44.18 kg; parity, 2-5) at early stage (30 days) of lactation were selected and divided into two groups of 8 animals each using a completely randomized block design.

The study was conducted on twelve lactating Murrah buffaloes which were randomly distributed into 2 groups consisting of six animals in each group i.e. control group without any fenugreek supplementation and treatment group supplemented with soaked fenugreek seeds @ 100 g per animal per day. The animals were maintained under same managemental conditions. The observations were recorded 3 months (90 days) postpartum.

Micro-mineral deficiencies of Zinc, Manganese, Iodine and Copper have been identified in blood plasma and serum levels of livestock in state of Punjab. Eighteen female buffalo calves of 15 day of age were randomly divided into 2 groups of nine each and fed calf starter of ingredient composition as per the prevailing feeding practice at the university dairy farm containing 0.66% zinc and 0.1% copper (organic and inorganic) in the mineral mixture as per specifications along with green fodder and milk. The growth study was of 120 days.

Natural microflora of three Dadih products from Lembah Gumanti District, Solok Regency, West Sumatra has been analyzed and compared. Dadih (Dadiah: in Minangkabau dialect) is well known as an original and typical traditional food of West Sumatra. Dadih is fermented milk product made from water buffalo milk in a bamboo tubes. The study was purposed to analyze the composition of acid fermentative and proteolytic bacteria in dadih, to compare the character of the potential acid fermentative isolate as a probiotic candidate, to determine the pathogenicity of the isolates.

In the current scenario, climate change is occurring all over the world and heat stress is increasing gradually. Heat stress can effectively reduce in buffaloes through evaporative cooling. Present experiment was carried out to find out the effect of fogger cooling on Temperature-Humidity Index (THI), physiological parameters, milk yield and milk composition in Jaffrabadi buffaloes during summer season at Cattle Breeding Farm, Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh, Gujarat (India) for a period of 9 weeks(from April to June, 2017).

Milk shake is a frozen dairy product, prepared from milk and ice cream mixing into mixer to make it pourable and generate foam in it. It can be made more nutritious and health protector with addition of almond (Prunus dulcis) due to its rich mineral contents, zero cholesterol level, and health invigorating antioxidant, anti-cancerous and antibacterial properties against harmful pathogens. There has been no scientific study on milk shake blended with almond (Prunus dulcis) particularly from buffalo milk, which is more nutritious, and rank higher with respect to sensory appeal over cow milk.
