This paper focused on evaluating those properties based on the data of acoustic emission and electrical contact voltage signal. Frictional experiments based on scratch test and pin-on-flat model were conducted with CrN coating, lubricant samples to obtain some experimental data, including contact pressure, friction force, friction coefficient, acoustic emission, and contact voltage.

Contact mechanics is a topic that performs the investigation of the deformation of solids that touch each other at one or more points. A principal distinction in contact mechanics is between stresses acting perpendicular to the contacting bodies' surfaces and stresses acting tangentially between the surfaces. This study focuses mainly on the normal stresses that are caused by applied forces.

Lecture ECE 6450 Microelectronic - Chapter 2: Semiconductor substrates. After studying this section will help you understandcertain compositions of materials are allowed at a given temperature and pressure when the material is in thermodynamic equilibrium. These compositions can be described by “Phase Diagrams”. These allowed compositions effect semiconductor growth, and dictate the stability and electrical properties of metalsemiconductor contacts.

This work reports the synthesis and properties of a new membrane based on polyvinyl chloride (PVC) grafting with polyacrylic acid (PAA) using argon (Ar) plasma. The membranes of PVC were synthesized by solutioncasting method, where PAA was deposited as an ultrathin film onto PVC using dielectric barrier discharge at atmospheric pressure with Ar gas. The surface characteristics and chemical composition of the modified membranes were analyzed by water contact angle, scanning electron microscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.

The lesser grain borer, Rhyzopertha dominica is a serious pest of stored grains. Fumigation and contact insecticides play a major role in managing this pest globally. While insects are developing genetic resistance to chemicals, hormonal analogues such as s-methoprene play a key role in reducing general pest pressure as well as managing pest populations that are resistant to fumigants and neurotoxic contact insecticides.

Suture anchor-based fixations of humeral greater tuberosity (GT) fractures have yielded good outcomes in both clinical and biomechanical studies. Be that as it may, the interface contact properties of these fixations have yet to be elaborated. In response, the contact characteristics of two double-row suture anchor fixations for the management of GT fracture were compared.

The objective of this biomechanical study is to compare two variations of single-row knotless techniques (Knotless repair and Rip-stop Knotless repair) against a single-row double-loaded anchor (DL) repair, focused on evaluating contact pressure and contact area amongst three different single-row techniques for rotator cuff repairs.

The risk of posterior cage migration (PCM) exists when a fusion cage is used for transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF). This complication is influenced by contact pressure between the endplate and the cage. Previous reports demonstrated that anteriorly located cages bore more load and had greater strain than posteriorly located cages.

Morphological and histo-pathological effects of a common broad spectrum systemic organophosphate insecticide, Phorate (O, O-Diethyl S-(ethylthio) methyl phasphoroditl) were evaluated on the integument of an epigeic earthworm, Eisenia fetida. The acute toxicity experiments were conducted by direct contact test (48 h) through a filter paper method recommended by OECD Guideline, 207. The LC50 value for 48 h was recorded and it was 20-40µl.

The paper covered preparations and characterisations of Ni-Ga based catalysts including Ni-Ga alloy, Ni-Ga/mixed oxides, Ni-Ga/ mesosilica and Ni-Ga-Co/mesosilica for synthesis of methanol from direct reduction of CO2 under hydrogen. The Ni-Ga alloy and Ni-Ga/ mixed oxides were prepared by metal melting method established at 1500o C and co-condensation-evaporation method at 80o C for 24 hours, respectively. The Ni-Ga/mesosilica and Ni-Ga-Co/mesosilica catalysts were both prepared by wet impregnation method at room temperature for 24 hours.

High-pressure and ultrahigh-pressure metamorphic rocks crop out widely in the northern Aegean. In many instances their ages and tectonic setting are poorly constrained. Here we report newly discovered high-pressure rocks of continental crustal origin and of Late Cretaceous age southwest of the Marmara Sea. They occur at the contact between the Rhodope-Strandja Zone in the north and the Sakarya Zone in the south.

The pressure is thus a given time-dependent function and the Coulomb criterion is reduced to a Mises-like standard law of friction. It is shown here that Melan and Koiter theorems can be applied again as in standard plasticity. The dependence of the yield limit on the loading amplitude is however not classical and the extension of the static and kinematic approaches is discussed to obtain the critical shakedown load or the limit load. The validity of the assumption of small coupling is also explored by numerical simulation in an practicle example.

In this paper, a new method to design cam mechanisms with translating roller follower using Matlab and Inventor software is presented. The minimization of the cam size and the contact stress can be determined by controlling design parameters, such as the cam base circle radius, the follower face width and the follower offset. During the design procedure, a number of constraints regarding the pressure angle and the contact stress are taken into account. The finite element aproach is used to perform the analysis.

A series of commercially manufactured medium density fiberboard (MDF) panels were exposed to a post-manufacture heat-treatment at various temperatures and durations using a hot press and just enough pressure to ensure firm contact between the panel and the press platens. Postmanufacture heat-treatment improved surface roughness of the exterior MDF panels. Panels treated at 225C for 30 min had the smoothest surface while the roughest surface was found for the control panels.

Use drive rolls with a V-groove and flat pressure rolls. ✓ Use knurled rolls only when friction in the liner causes smooth rolls to slip e.g. with long, extremely curved cable assemblies. Knurled rolls give increased liner and contact tip wear. ✓ Check that the groove size is correct for the wire diameter. ✓ Apply the correct pressure on feed rolls. Too much pressure flattens the wire, resulting in feedings problems and higher liner and contact tip wear.

The working pressure for governor systems vary, but generally the pressure required to apply the necessary squeeze is half of the working pressure. The servomotor stops usually must be adjusted to absorb part of the excess force of the full working pressure. Also the servomotor stops must be adjusted so that each servomotor applies the same amount of squeeze at the end of the stroke to prevent distortion of the operating ring and headcover.
