Controlled release of chitosan

A biocompatible nanocarrier system was prepared in this research through the reaction of calcium alginate (CA) with chitosan (CS). The structure of developed nanocarriers (CS-CA) was characterized by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier transforms infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) atomic force microscopy (AFM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).

This study described the performance of carbon nanofiber modified chitosan (CNF@CS) composite microspheres for the controlled release of the Ibrutinib (IBR) drug. The surface morphology, particle sizes, and functional group contents of the microspheres were characterized by attenuated total reflection-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), scanning electron, and optical microscopy measurements.

In the present study, supramolecular polyelectrolyte complexes (SPEC) based on a cyclodextrin-grafted chitosan derivative and carrageenan were prepared and evaluated for controlled drug release. Samples were characterized by FTIR, SEM, and ζ-potential measurements, which confirmed the formation of the polymeric complex.

Neonicotinoid-based pesticides are extensively used owing to their broad insecticidal spectrum and activity. We developed neonicotinoid dinotefuran (DIN)-loaded chitosan-gelatin microspheres using a spray-drying technology, resulting in a pH- and temperature-responsive controlled-release system.

The previous studies indicated that CrmA could ameliorate the interleukin-1β induced osteoarthritis. In this study, we investigated the controlled-released cytokine response modifier A (CrmA) from hyaluronic acid (HA)-chitosan (CS) microspheres to improve interleukin-1β (IL-1β)-stimulated dedifferentiation of chondrocytes.

Thanks to its specific chemical and physical properties, graphene has aroused growing interest in many fields of Science and Technology. The present study focuses on the properties of microcrystalline chitosan (MCCh): A compound known to increase the biocompatibility of various matrices, including those made of graphene layers, enabling the controlled release of molecules of therapeutic compounds.

. One approach in wound dressing development is to incorporate active molecules or drugs in the dressing. In order to reduce the frequency of dressing changes as well as to prolong wound healing efficacy, wound dressings that can sustain the release of the active molecules should be developed. In our previous work, we developed chitosan/sericin (CH/SS) microspheres that released sericin in a controlled rate. However, the difficulty of applying the microspheres that easily diffuse and quickly degrade onto the wound was its limitations.

Because it is both biocompatible and biodegradable, chitosan has been used to provide a protective capsule in new drug formulations. The present work reports on investigations into some of the physicochemical properties of chitosan-coated liposomes, including drug release rate, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), zeta potential and turbidity measurement. It was found that chitosan increases liposome stability during drug release. The coating of DPPC liposomes with a chitosan layer was confirmed by electron microscopy and the zeta potential of liposomes.

The purpose of this study is to synthesize and characterize poly (ethylene glycol) methyl ether (mPEG) conjugated chitosan (CS), mPEG-CS, at different ratios of 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) delivery (5-FU-loaded mPEG-CS). The chemical cross-linking of these polymers were prepared by using 4-Nitrophenyl chloroformate reagent. The obtained mPEG-CS was characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) spectroscopy.

In an attempt to improve material properties used for oral administration, which is restricted by fast dissolution in the stomach, chitosan hydrogels were coated with cellulose dissolved in ionic liquid. Using insulin as a model compound, the properties of these cellulose-coated microparticles for the controlled release of drug were investigated. The results showed that the coated microparticles were more stable than those which were uncoated at low pH and suitable for oral delivery without requiring any harmful and sophisticated cross-linkage treatment.

Several polymers containing amino or amido groups and biuret were tested as additives to ureaformaldehyde resin in order to neutralize its inherent acidity and combine free formaldehyde released upon hydrolysis of cured UF polycondensate. Each modifier was incorporated to liquid methylolureas at weight ratios of 1:100,2:100, and 3:lOO prior to curing with the aid of acetic acid.
