Common scab caused by Streptomyces scabies (Thaxter) Waksman & Henrici is an important disease worldwide, and can cause significant reduction in the economic value of potato. The management of the disease can be done through conventional methods, biological chemical and cultivation of resistant variety. However, resistance against pathogen is not a permanent solution and fungicidal is not ecofriendly and economical. But new search, induce resistance has taken great attention for plant disease management in near future.

This study aims at to analysis the socio economic comparison in seedling production per acre, merits and demerits of machine transplanting in Cauvery delta zone. The focused research study revealed that majority of the farmers with the farming experience of 10 -30 years, cultivating major varieties viz., ASD 16, ADT 43 and Ponni reported the total cost of production in mat nursery method is much less than the conventional method and it saves 59 percentage in cost of production when compared to conventional method.

Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz.) is an important tuber cultivated in India. Cassava is vegetatively propagated through stem cuttings (setts). A mature plant with two stems will give about 12 to 20 normal sized (20 cm) setts after one year. Farmers are practicing 8-10 cm long cuttings from the mature part of stem and planted in vertical position in nursery bed at closer spacing of 5 cm. Under conventional system of propagation, 1250 to 1500 stems are required for planting one hectare of area.

Farmers‟ participatory demonstrations on jute cultivation using zero tillage (ZT) technology were conducted in West Bengal through standardized conservation agriculture (CA)-jute protocols developed jointly by Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya and International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre (CIMMYT). The results of demonstration indicated a significant yield increase under ZT over conventional practices. On an average, an yield increase of 25.83-27.83% under zero tillage technology reflected the positive effect of demonstration over the existing practices.

Soils are an important pool of active carbon and tillage can lead to carbon emission from agricultural soils. This study aimed in assessment of quantity of CO2 release from red loam, the major soil of Kerala under different tillage practices (conventional, with cultivator and with rotovator) and to optimize the tillage practices with minimum CO2 emission. The CO2 emission from soil surfaces were measured using base trap method with NaOH as base.

Sustainable Sugarcane Initiative (SSI) is one of the advanced methods of sugarcane cultivation technique which involves the use of less seed setts, water, land, labour and optimum utilization of fertilizers to achieve maximum potential yield. The SSI is an alternative to conventional method of sugarcane cultivation. The field demonstrations were conducted in farmer’s field at five different locations to study the effect of sustainable sugarcane initiative and conventional sugarcane cultivation under drip irrigation system during 2017–2018.

A field experiment was initiated in established Robusta coffee plantation with different levels of drip fertigation viz., 75, 100, 125 and 150% of recommended dose of fertilizers to study the influence of micro-irrigation and drip fertigation on yield and yield parameters of coffee at Central Coffee Research Institute. Results showed that drip fertigation with 125 % recommended dose of fertilizers recorded significantly higher bearing nodes per branch (24.87) and pin heads/branch (623.

The main objective of this study was to assess the effect of conventional and protected systems of farming on soil physical parameters. Texture across the various sites varied from sandy loam to clay loam. Mean of two years (2015 and 2016) revealed comparatively lower bulk density inside protected cultivation (1.12 Mg m-3 ) as compared to conventional system (1.24 Mg m-3 ). There were as such no differences were observed in particle density. However, porosity and water holding capacity differ inside protected and conventional system of production.

Club root of crucifers, a devastating disease of oilseed Brassicas and Cole vegetables is very difficult to control through conventional methods in different areas due to ineffective. Cultivation of resistant Brassica germplasms against this disease is very cheapest method to manage this disease. Therefore this screening trial was conducted with different Brassica germplasms under growth chamber to identify the source of resistance against this disease. Generally root hair infection test and pathogenicity test (club formation) were done for this purpose.

The conventional method of Tomato cultivation under furrow irrigation needs a paradigm shift towards modern irrigation systems due to water scarcity. Drip irrigation method distributes water to the field using the pipe network and transforms it from the pipe network of the plant by emitters. In spite of the advantages of drip irrigation method, the traditional network of drip irrigation method has many problems. Hydraulic design seems to be only one of the minor factors of the evaluation of overall uniformity of a micro-irrigation system.

Maize crop is an important food crop of the world. To fulfill the requirement of maize over increasing population researchers have to develop and promote technologies which can meet the requirement with reduced cost of cultivation. Sowing of maize is being carried out by different methods all over the world depending upon the soil and availability of sowing implements. Delay in sowing because of shortage of labour during season causes progressive decrease in yield. The area under maize crop may increase if sowing is mechanized.

An experiment was carried out in eastern sub-Himalayan plains of India to assess the performances of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) under various crop establishment techniques and to find out the influence of mulching and irrigation on productivity, moisture use and profitability of wheat cultivation. Results indicated the superiority of bed planting (BP) in terms of biomass production and grain yield over zero tillage (ZT) and conventional tillage (CT). Significantly higher biomass was recorded under bed planting (BP) over that under conventional tillage (CT) and zero tillage (ZT).

The protected cultivation of cucumber in soilless systems (substrate culture, hydroponic, aeroponic etc.) under optimal operating microclimatic conditions has become an alternative for sustainable vegetable production as a result of shifting climatic scenarios and soil related problems. The soilless cultivation in both open and closed systems with efficient utilization of water and nutrients has significantly increased the greenhouse cucumber productivity compared to conventional cultivation under both protective structures and open field conditions.
