  • Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) are a new blooming carbon containing nanoparticles having size of less than 10 nm. They have wide range of application in the field of sensing of inorganic analytes, bio sensing, cell imaging, studying biological processes in living cells and also for drug delivery. T. In this review article we demonstrate how these tools are used to characterize newly synthesized CQDs, monitor the synthesis process along with finding its application in numerous fields.

  • In ebook "Single-molecule fluorescence spectroscopy of the folding of a repeat protein" single-molecule fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) spectroscopy was used to study the folding of a protein that belongs to the large and important family of repeat proteins. Cohen shows that the dynamics of the expanded conformations is likely to be very fast, suggesting a spring-like motion of the whole chain. The findings shed new light on the elasticity of structure in repeat proteins, which is related to their function in binding multiple and disparate partners.

  • Ebook "Correlation force spectroscopy for single molecule measurements" addresses the development of a new force spectroscopy tool, correlation force spectroscopy (CFS) for the measurement of the properties of very small volumes of material (molecular to µm3) at kHz-MHz frequency range. CFS measures the simultaneous thermal fluctuations of two closely-spaced atomic force microscopy (AFM) cantilevers. CFS then calculates the cross-correlation in the thermal fluctuations that gives the mechanical properties of the matter that spans the gap of the two cantilevers.

  • A low field benchtop electron spin resonance (ESR) (also referred to as electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR)) spectrometer is used to reveal paramagnetic centres such as oxygen vacancies and Ti+3 centres over 0.5%Pd/TiO2 . The measurement was performed at room temperature after the sample was reduced in situ under mild hydrogen pressures and evacuated to P < 10–6 Torr.

  • A great wealth of structural information about phosphazenes can be gleaned from the combined spectroscopic and crystallographic data. When data from 31P NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography are put together like pieces in a puzzle, a number of correlations can be obtained for phosphazene derivatives. A systematic study concerning the correlations among the structural parameters (e.g., 31P NMR data, endocyclic/exocyclic NPN bond angles and bond lengths) revealed some characteristics of mono- and di-spirocyclophosphazene derivatives bearing 4- fluoro/nitrophenylmethyl pendant arm/arms.
