Cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) from banana peels was evaluated as promising stabilizer for oil-in-water emulsions. CNFs were treated using ultrasound and high-pressure homogenizer. Changes on the size, crystallinity index and zeta potential of CNFs were associated with the intense effects of cavitation phenomenon and shear forces promoted by mechanical treatments.

We propose a novel approach relied on high-resolution solid-state 13C NMR spectroscopy to quantify the crystallinity index of chitosans (Ch) prepared with variable average degrees of acetylation (DA) from 5% to 60 % and average weight molecular weight (Mw) ranged in 0.15 × 106 g mol− 1 –1.2 × 106 g mol− 1 .

Starches from the wheat (UP262, PBW343), rice (PB2, PD19) and millets (Finger millet VL Mandua-352, Barnyard millet VL Madira-207, Foxtail millet DHFT-109-3) were isolated by alkali extraction method and characterized for morphologically and biochemical properties. The morphological properties of starch granules were studied by scanning electron microscope. The infrared spectroscopy is sensitive to structural changes on starch macromolecule, such as helicoidal chain conformation, crystallinity, retrogradation and water content.

To improve the solubility and oral bioavailability of erlotinib, a poorly water-soluble anticancer drug, solid self-emulsifying drug delivery system (SEDDS) was developed using solid inert carriers such as dextran 40 and Aerosil® 200 (colloidal silica). The preliminary solubility of erlotinib in various oils, surfactants, and co-surfactants was determined. Labrafil M2125CS, Labrasol, and Transcutol HP were chosen as the oil, surfactant, and co-surfactant, respectively, for preparation of the SEDDS formulations. The ternary phase diagram was evaluated to show the self-emulsifying area.

Acacia pulp is produced for making paper in Vietnam. This pulp has been applied for producing nitrocellulose [5] and for other derivatives. However, the structure of this pulp has not still been reported. So, the problems of nitrocellulose quality and conditions of its production have not been explained clearly. Thus, in this work the structure of Vietnamese acacia pulp is investigated.

LiFePO4/C composites were synthesized via physical mixing assisted solvothermal process. Different kinds of carbon materials were investigated including 0D (carbon Ketjen black), 1D (carbon nanotubes) and 2D (graphene) materials. X-rays diffraction patterns of carbon coated LiFePO4 synthesized by solvothermal was indexed to pure crystalline phase without the emergence of second phase. LiFePO4 platelets and rods were in range size of 80-200 nm and dispersed well in carbon matrix.

In this paper, the structural characteristics of the modified celluloses from acacia pulp in Vietnam were investigated and compared to other pulps. The total crystalline index (TCI), the lateral order index (LOI) and the hydrogen bond intensity (HBI) were evaluated by the FTIR spectra. The size of crystallites was considered by XRD patterns.
