Cultivated wheat

Cultivated barley belongs to the tertiary genepool of hexaploid wheat. Genes of interest can be transferred from barley into wheat through wide hybridization. The application of wheat-barley introgression lines could provide an excellent tool for the transfer of earliness, favourable amino acid composition, biotic stress resistance, abiotic stress tolerance, or good tillering ability into wheat.

In this study, we aimed to determine the best agricultural waste media mixtures for Ganoderma carnosum Pat. cultivation, which is almost unknown in Turkey. Six different growing mixtures were prepared using oak sawdust, peanut shell, and corn cob: C (oak sawdust), M1 (2 oak sawdust + 1 wheat bran), M2 (2 peanut shells + 1 wheat bran), M3 (1 oak sawdust + 1 peanut shell + 1 wheat bran), M4 (2 corn cobs + 1 wheat bran), M5 (1 oak sawdust + 1 corn cob + 1 wheat bran).

Stripe rust, caused by the fungal pathogen Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici (Pst), is a serious foliar disease of wheat. Identification of novel stripe rust resistance genes and cultivation of resistant cultivars are considered to be the most effective approaches to control this disease.

The present study was conducted in Jaunpur and Ghajipur districts of Eastern U.P. District Jaunpur and Ghazipur were purposively selected and the two blocks from each district namely Mariyahun and Bkhsa from Jaunpur districts and from Ghazipur district Zamaniya and Saidpur were selected purposively for the study due to having highly concentration on wheat cultivation. List of the villages from selected blocks were prepared along with hectarage under wheat cultivation and 5 villages were selected randomly for study...

Maize is considered to be the third most important cereal after rice and wheat in India. It is being cultivated worldwide in a wider range of environmental conditions, because of its greater adaptability. It is known to be affected by more than 62 diseases. Among them, turcicum leaf blight caused by Exserohilum turcicum (Pass.) Leonard and Suggs is of significant importance as it drastically reduces the yield by reducing photosynthetic activity of the plant.

In agriculture, the use of pesticide has been the dominant form of pest management since the 1950s to kill pest organisms including insects, weeds, fungi and nematodes. In recent times, use of pesticides in rice and wheat cultivation has increased rapidly and this scenario contributes significantly towards adverse effects on human health, environment and on overall bio-diversity as these two crops are among the major food crops grown in India and study area.

Agricultural dusts are generated due to crop production activities such as ploughing, seed bed preparation, sowing, harvesting and threshing. The present study was undertaken for evaluation of organic and inorganic dust concentration in different agricultural operations in Wheat crop cultivation. The dust concentration at two locations (near to operator seat on tractor and at by-stander position) for ploughing, seed bed preparation, sowing and harvesting operations. Whereas, the dust concentration for threshing operation were taken at three locations viz.

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) and Wheat (Triticum aestivum) is the most extensively cultivated cereal crops in India and other countries. In the experiment, for crop residue management in rice wheat cropping system various farm machines were used viz., zero till happy seeder (T1), mulcher + zero till drill (T2), zero till drill (T3). In T2 treatment fuel consumption was measured higher as compared to other treatments because there are used two machines.

The cultivation of Pleurotus cornucopiae, the branched oyster mushroom is not very common in India but is relished for its pleasant flavour and mild taste. Grain substrates for its spawn production have not been evaluated yet but, wheat grains are commonly used for the same. So, five different grain substrates viz., wheat, barley, kodo, jowar and maize were tested, for spawn run period, mycelia growth, fruit body characters and yield of said mushroom on five different substrates. It was found that minimum time for spawn run was taken by jowar grains (7.

Farmers‟ participatory demonstrations on jute cultivation using zero tillage (ZT) technology were conducted in West Bengal through standardized conservation agriculture (CA)-jute protocols developed jointly by Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya and International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre (CIMMYT). The results of demonstration indicated a significant yield increase under ZT over conventional practices. On an average, an yield increase of 25.83-27.83% under zero tillage technology reflected the positive effect of demonstration over the existing practices.

Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is world’s most widely cultivated food grain crop. At initial decades of 21st century, one probability of a great famine appeared in the world due to long drought in tropics and subtropics and at the same time it appeared more dangerously because of the climate change threat. System of Wheat Intensification (SWI) which is somewhat based on the fundamental principles of System of Rice Intensification (SRI) is a new wheat cultivation technique which might act as a significantly new weapon as a part of climate-smart farming.

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is the foremost important food crop in the world especially in Asiatic Continent. It is ranking second to the wheat among the most cultivated cereals in the world. Rice has widest germplasm collection than other cereal crops. It has to be made productive through several achievements in rice breeding programme, especially in sustainable food grain production with quality concern and it is undoubtedly the most important cereal of the world providing 21 per cent of global human per capita energy and 15 per cent of per capita protein.

The ScB, RS and WS agro-wastes substrates were selected as the most favorable lignocellulosic sources. P. cystidiosus can efficiently degrade the agro-wastes and grow at wide range of temperatures.

The Jammu and Kashmir has a varied type of climate from sub-tropical to cold arid. The main crops grown in the state are rice, maize, wheat, pulses, oil seeds, saffron etc. The cultivation of Saffron is mostly confined to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. In Kashmir saffron cultivation is peculiar and the legend about its introduction in to Kashmir shows that it is an ancient industry about 2200 years’ old. It is the legendry crop of the welldrained plateau of Pampore. The present study is an attempt to analyse the cost, return and marketing of Saffron in Jammu and Kashmir.
