This study aimed to determine the optimum nitrogen application rate for quinoa in saline soils. The current study was carried out to evaluate the effects of nitrogen application on the growth and yield of quinoa to suggest the optimum nitrogen dose for quinoa production in saline conditions in Northern Vietnam.

Protected cropping provides vegetable growers with an opportunity to enhance product quality and improve food safety. The overall objective of this project was to provide Vietnamese scientists and extension specialists with the training and tools to implement and foster regionally feasible improvements to current vegetable production practices and supply chains. This was achieved through: 1) greenhouse replicated experiments and demonstration trials in Northern, Central and Southern Vietnam; 2) four in-country workshops and 3) two Australian study tours for research and extension personnel.

The purpose of the study was to analyze the current practice of shrimp farming in the north central Vietnam, to evaluate the status of agricultural production and economic conditions - social and environment, and determine the limit application of better management practices. The report presents the results of a survey of 90 shrimp farmers in north-central provinces of Vietnam (Ha Tinh, Nghe An and Thua Thien-Hue). Shrimp production costs mainly by feeding (average 65% of total cost) for different varieties of food between provinces.

Rural water supply and sanitation is one of major programs for rural development applied not only in Vietnam but also in other developing countries. However, due to poor income and low knowledge conditions, the numbers of farmers achieve this are not so high. Currently, there is a little documentation in Vietnamese concerning toilet design have been found in bookstores and libraries although this is a real need, special for rural areas. For this purpose, a rural toilet design manual was just written in the College of Technology (CoT), CanTho University (CTU).
