This article seeks to provide research opportunities in supply chain networks. For manufacturing industries, materials supply is an essential input to the production process for a sustainability value creation for firms and stakeholders. However, due to several reasons have caused issues to material short supplies in the production process that caused additional cost leading to a negative impact to firm operating performance.

The study introduces the Disrupted Vehicle Routing problem with Soft Time Windows since pharmaceutical distributors should respond to increased demands for products to ensure timely and efficient delivery to dynamic demands. Countries around the world are adopting the practice of using waste products and other alternatives to replace fossil fuels in cement manufacturing. Industrialized countries have over 20 years of successful experience (GTZ and Holcim 2006). The Netherlands and Switzerland, with respective national substitution rates of 83% and 48%, are world leaders in this practice (Cement Sustainability Initiative 2005). In the US, it is common for cement plants to derive 20-70% of their energy needs from alternative fuels (Portland Cement Association 2006).

Environmental conditions for incubation are controlled automatically and are safeguarded by supplementary mechanisms activated in case of unexpected malfunction or disruption of energy sources. High standards of sanitation are essential for the production of high-quality chicks. Generally, economic interests of industrial hatcheries favour the best care of marketable chicks, as this has an influence on the birds’ future performance.
