Cystic duct

Caroli disease is multifocal segmental dilatation of the large intrahepatic bile ducts that connect to the main duct. It is considered a rare disease with an incidence rate of 1 in 1,000,000 births. There are two types of Caroli: the first type is the simple type, Caroli disease, which includes only cystic dilatation of the intrahepatic bile ducts.

Giant umbilical cord, defined as a cord diameter of more than 5 cm, is an extremely rare malformation. There are few case reports of giant umbilical cord often associated with patent urachus duct or cystic malformation. These cases are usually managed by surgical excision and repair of patent urachus or cyst resection.

Cholangiocarcinoma is a rare gastrointestinal malignancy that arises within the intrahepatic, perihilar, and/or extrahepatic bile ducts. Individuals with cystic fibrosis are at increased risk for gastrointestinal malignancies. The most common gastrointestinal malignancy in cystic fibrosis is colon cancer, but other gastrointestinal malignancies also occur at greater rates than the general population.
