  • The study indicated that 46.67 per cent of the farmers belonged to old age group of above 45 years and were illiterate (36.70 %). Majority (51.70 %) of them had dairying and agriculture as their primary occupation and had more than 10 years of farming experience. Majority of the farmers had medium categories of cosmopoliteness and livestock possession (85.00 % and 68.33 %) respectively. The major constraints faced by the respondents were lack of awareness about latest technologies, scarcity of grazing land and water in dairy farming and lack of veterinary extension services at field level.

  • A participatory empowerment model was developed for dairy farmers on the basis of various identified factors in Namakkal district, Tamil Nadu, India. This farmer’s participation model consists of steps like, analyses of resource availability, feeding pattern appraisal and micro level approach with ICT integration.   • This study was performed at Instructional dairy farm, Govind Ballabh Pant University of agriculture and technology during Kharif season, 2017 to evaluate and characterize 96 sorghum accessions for various morphological and fodder yield parameters. Highest Shannon index was recorded for races (1.47) followed by glume color (1.33), ear head compactness (1.176) and glume covering (1.117) revealed the greater variability for these qualitative traits. The results of this study indicate that significant genetic diversity exists among the sorghum accessions.

The PK-10R farm is said to be most viable farm size, and has the potential of challenging competitors in export markets6.
