Information-scores based on general inflammation markers are suggested as prognostic markers of overall survival (OS) in lung cancer. However, whether these inflammation-scores improves the prognostication per‑ formed by well-established prognostic markers is unsettled. In a large register-based lung cancer patient cohort, nine diferent inflammation-scores were compared, and their ability to optimize the prognostication of OS was evaluated.

Cancer-specific survival estimates rely on precise and correct data on the cause of death; however, these data can be difficult to acquire, particularly in elderly patients where comorbidity is common. Furthermore, while some deaths are directly related to cancer, others are more complex, with cancer merely contributing.

From 2008, Danish general practitioners could refer patients suspected of having cancer to standardised cancer patient pathways (CPPs). We aimed to compare the length of the diagnostic interval in 2010 with the length of the diagnostic interval before (2004/05) and during (2007/08) the implementation of CPPs in Denmark for all incident cancer patients who attended general practice prior to the cancer diagnosis.

A Danish cancer pathway has been implemented for patients with serious non-specific symptoms and signs of cancer (NSSC-CPP). The initiative is one of several to improve the long diagnostic interval and the poor survival of Danish cancer patients.

Danish cancer patients have lower survival rates than patients in many other western countries. Half of the patients present with non-alarm symptoms and thus have a long diagnostic pathway. Consequently, an urgent referral pathway for patients with non-specific serious symptoms was implemented throughout Denmark in 2011–2012.

We were able to obtain satisfactory postoperative PSA levels by RTUR-PCa comparable with open radical prostatectomy. But we recently started to think that, after a considerable number of the procedures, minimal residual prostate tissue at the part where cancer was not detected by biopsy might not necessarily prevent the radicality of the disease in carefully selected patients. We performed prostate biopsy to get information about the localization of cancer. The results of cancer localization from operative specimens were consistent with those from biopsy specimens in 46.7%....
