Having started the exploration of rare earth elements (REE) since the early 1958 and currently ranked the second in the world in term of REE potential, only after China, the REE exploration and production industry in Vietnam is still in an early stage of exploration and production due to a number of reasons, including lacks of investment, testing and mining experiences, up-to-date technology, good development policy and adequate guidance regulations.

One-dimensional Al-doped CdS nanobelts were synthesized for the first time via chemical vapor deposition. The vertically synthesized Cd1-xAlxS nanobelts (x ¼ 0e3.09) exhibited high crystallinity. We have reported here an investigation of optical and electrical properties of prepared nanobelts for potential applications in nano-optoelectronics.

An easy-to-make new working electrode, an ex-in-situ AuF/GCE, was developed for trace As(III) detection. A gold film electrode prepared ex-situ was re-plated in-situ during each arsenic deposition step by adding Au(III) into the analyte solution.

The project's main objectives were to analyse the data obtained during geological exploration and use it to model and predict biological patterns in order to answer the main research questions: 1) Is there a statistical relationship between the environmental parameters and the benthic community composition and morphospecies observed? 2) Can predictive models be developed from this relationship? In achieving these main objectives, the project also developed recommendations for methods that could be applied during geological exploration voyages to maximise the potential use of data collected.

Novel ceramic structures with multi-scalar porosity were developed using a single preceramic poly(vinyl)silazane to generate asymmetric Si-C-N-based membranes through pyrolytic conversion. Macroporous supports in planar-disc configuration were prepared through a sacrificial filler approach, intermediate structures and microporous layers were deposited via dip-coating.

The Oligocene Ruslar Formation, an equivalent of the Maykop Suite, is a potential hydrocarbon source rock in the western Black Sea Basin. In contrast to the offshore areas, the depositional environment and hydrocarbon source rock potential of onshore Bulgaria sediments are largely unknown. Hence, a 14-m-thick section of the Ruslar Formation, exposed near Karadere (Black Cape) along the Black Sea coast, provides an excellent opportunity to study the upper part of the Ruslar Formation.

Adsorptive cathodic stripping voltammetric determination of aluminum at ng mL −1 levels in salt samples based on the metal complexation with Calcon (1-(2-hydroxynaphthylazo)-2 naphthol-4-sulfonic acid) and the subsequent adsorptive deposition onto a hanging mercury drop electrode was studied. Central composite design was used as a design method. Several chemical and instrumental parameters (pH, ligand concentration, deposition time, deposition potential, and complexing time) were involved in the experimental design.

Cyclic voltammetry (CV) was performed on tamoxifen (tam) using different electrodes and in various acidic electrolytes containing 10% v v−1 methanol (MeOH). Tam oxidation was found to be most favorable using 0.1 mol L−1 H2SO4. To investigate the mechanism, we performed chronoamperometry, CV at different scan rates, differential pulse anodic voltammetry (DPAV), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy on tam-covered glassy carbon electrodes (GCEs). The electrode area, diffusion coefficient, and surface concentration (Γ) of tam were calculated to be 0.062 cm2, 3.65 × 10−6 cm2 s−1 , and 3.

The optimum growth time was acquired to be 11 hours. Thereby such obtained electrode exhibited the maximum HER activity with onset over the potential of 220 mV versus reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE), and the Tafel slope of 66 mV per decade (mV/dec). Conclusion: Our results suggest a good technique for the research of high-efficient HER electrocatalyst based on atomicthickness layered materials.

Potentially active and eco-friendly solid acid catalysts have been synthesized by loading different weight percentages (10, 15, and 50) of nickel oxide on thermally activated Turkish perlite through the deposition-precipitation method. Structural features of prepared catalysts were analyzed using BET surface area analysis, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope (SEM), SEM-EDX, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR), pyridine adsorbed FT-IR, UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) techniques.

This work describes the synthesis of mixed oxide film of vanadium and ruthenium by pulsed deposition technique on multiwall carbon nanotubes and the decoration of gold nanoparticles on the mixed film. A ternary electrocatalyst has been developed for the electrochemical oxidation of hydrazine by combining two metal oxide mixtures with Au nanoparticles. Surface morphology and chemical composition of the electrode have been examined with SEM, EDX, HRTEM, EIS, and XRD.

The aim of this study was to analyze potential influences of polymorphisms within the regulatory region of the bovine SIRT6 gene on carcass quality traits. Expression analyses suggested that SIRT6 gene is predominately expressed in kidney, compared with other tissues. In 535 indigenous Chinese beef cattle, two novel single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were identified within the promoter region of the SIRT6 gene.

In case of any redox process, the energy change can be quantitatively expressed in terms of reduction potential of that process. For better understanding of a geochemical process, previously known reduction potentials can be used. The main importance of reduction potentials in geochemistry is for understanding the frequent concentration and enrichment of various elements in deposits formed under extremely reducing or oxidizing conditions.
