Use, applicability and reliability of depth of hypnosis monitors in children - a survey among members of the European Society for Paediatric Anaesthesiology

To assess the thoughts of practicing anaesthesiologists about the use of depth of hypnosis monitors in children. Methods: Members of the European Society for Paediatric Anaesthesiology were invited to participate in an online survey about their thoughts regarding the use, applicability and reliability of hypnosis monitoring in children.

Heart rate variability-derived features based on deep neural network for distinguishing different anaesthesia states

Estimating the depth of anaesthesia (DoA) is critical in modern anaesthetic practice. Multiple DoA monitors based on electroencephalograms (EEGs) have been widely used for DoA monitoring; however, these monitors may be inaccurate under certain conditions. In this work, we hypothesize that heart rate variability (HRV)- derived features based on a deep neural network can distinguish different anaesthesia states, providing a secondary tool for DoA assessment.

A survey of current practices, attitudes and demands of anaesthesiologists regarding the depth of anaesthesia monitoring in China

In this study, we aimed to analyse survey data to explore two different hypotheses; and for this pur‑ pose, we distributed an online survey to Chinese anaesthesiologists. The hypothetical questions in this survey include: (1) Chinese anaesthesiologists mainly use the depth of anaesthesia (DoA) monitors to prevent intraoperative aware‑ ness and (2) the accuracy of these monitors is the most crucial performance factor during the clinical daily practice of Chinese anaesthesiologists.

$Efficacy of fiber glass cast in treatment of long bone fractures in clinical cases of dogs$

Six dogs suffering from long bone fractures were immobilized under general anesthesia by using commercially available fiber glass cast. Automobile accident was recorded as cause for long bone fracture in 5 dogs (83.33 %) while fall from height was recorded in 1 (16.6 %) dogs. 3 cases (50 %) were diagnosed as simple oblique fractures and 3 cases (50 %) as simple transverse fractures. Propofol provided adequate depth of anaesthesia and smooth recovery in young dogs less than 6 months of age. Immobilization with of fiberglass cast was easy and less time consuming.
