Determine aerodynamic characteristics

When the airship moves in the air, the tail-wings play a very important role in controlling and maintaining stability. The choice of the tail-wing layout determines the design, manufacture, construction and aerodynamic shape of each type of airship. On the tail-wings extra wings, brake wings are also put to help the flight process of safety.

An approximate method is proposed for determining the aerodynamic effect of coherent vortex structures (CVS) of atmospheric turbulence on an aircraft. As a source of the CVS the vortex wind wakes arising when the atmospheric wind flows around the mountain massif of the Son Tra peninsula, located near the Da Nang airport, and the vortex wake behind the Su-27 type aircraft in the landing configuration are considered.

This paper presents the ground effect on the aerodynamic performance of a hawkmoth-like flapping-wing micro air vehicle. An unsteady aerodynamic model based on the potential-flow theory is used to determine the ground effect at several flight conditions. In this research, the program is written in FORTRAN programming language by using OpenMP library for parallel computing.

In this study, the flow behavior and drag of the axisymmetric model at subsonic and supersonic speeds were investigated by a numerical approach. The numerical results were validated with previous experimental results to determine the model's accuracy.

This paper presents an approach using the CFD method to build a calculated model for studying aerodynamic interaction between the main rotor and helicopter fuselage. The calculated model consists of two components which are the main rotor and helicopter fuselage, that is capable of determining the aerodynamic characteristics of the main rotor in consideration of the influence of the helicopter fuselage.

This computational method allows solving inviscid problems for wings with thickness profile. The experimental and numerical results are compared to each other to verify the built program that permits to extend the range of applications with the variation of wing profiles, wing planforms, and incidence angles.
