Sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors are among the new-generation oral antihyperglycemic agents that have been used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. With the recent coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic and rise of cases in the third wave, diagnosis of life-threatening euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis may easily be overlooked or missed.

As a newly approved immune checkpoint inhibitor in China, serplulimab has been widely used in the immunotherapy of tumors. However, the immune-related adverse events of immune checkpoint inhibitors should not be ignored. Although immune checkpoint inhibitor-induced type 1 diabetes mellitus is a rare complication, it may cause diabetic ketoacidosis and endanger the lives of patients

Immune checkpoint inhibitors might cause immune-related adverse events that are still largely unknown. The study presents the first reported case of type 1 diabetes in a patient with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma treated with pembrolizumab monotherapy, in Japan.

Transplant recipients are at high risk of coronavirus disease 2019, and a timely supply of antivirals should be prioritized for those patients. Complicated drug‒drug interactions limit the use of Paxlovid (nirmatrelvir/ ritonavir) coadministered with tacrolimus.

Hypertriglyceridemia is a complication in the presentation of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) but has been reported in the pediatric population infrequently. We report a 13-year-old female with new onset type 1 diabetes in DKA, who developed extreme hypertriglyceridemia.

Purpura fulminans (PF) is a rarely encountered rapidly evolving dermatological manifestation of ischemia, particularly in critically ill patients. Considered one of the very few dermatological emergencies, it has high mortality rate where patients often succumb to the illness. It can manifest in three forms: neonatal, idiopathic, and the more commonly infectious variety, which can be secondary to mostly bacterial and rarely viral etiology.

We describe a case of Mauriac syndrome, which is a rare complication of poorly controlled type I diabetes that combines glycogenosis, hepatomegaly, growth retardation with a Cushingoid appearance that is most often present in children but also in young adults. Here we also describe another finding with this syndrome, which is hyperlactatemia.

Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is a common presentation of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) precipitated by various bacterial and viral infections. Dengue infection is no exception for this and can be a precipitating factor for DKA. The presentation of DKA with dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF) has been reported in adults. However, it is very rarely observed in children.

The number of episodes of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is a Parkville, Melbourne, Australia significant outcome measure for diabetes care. We ascertained patterns of admission due to DKA over 15yr to determine whether this indicator of diabetes care had improved in parallel with clinical practices. Between 1 January 1985 and 31 December 1999, 630 admissions were reviewed. We subanalyzed these admissions according to whether the patient was newly diagnosed, had infrequent episodes of DKA (non-relapsers) or had frequent (2/yr) episodes of DKA (relapsers).

The physical examination is the examination of the patient looking for signs of disease ('Symptoms' are what the patient volunteers, 'Signs' are what the healthcare provider detects by examination). The healthcare provider uses the senses of sight, hearing, touch, and sometimes smell (e.g., in infection, uremia, diabetic ketoacidosis). Taste has been made redundant by the availability of modern lab tests. Four actions are taught as the basis of physical examination: inspection, palpation (feel), percussion (tap to determine resonance characteristics), and auscultation (listen).
