Diagnosis of dengue infection
-
Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease affecting tropical and subtropical regions of the world. Symptoms may range from a mild undifferentiated febrile illness to dengue fever (DF) and dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF), a potentially life threatening disease. Detection of non-structural antigen (NS1 Ag) may help in the early diagnosis and treatment of dengue. Aim of the study is to detect dengue infection by NS1 Ag detection and also to know its prevalence.

Dengue or break bone fever is a deadly disease caused by the Flavivirus. There are approximately 390 million dengue infections every year in the tropical and sub-tropical regions of the world. It is caused by the day biting Aedes mosquitoes which has expanded its geographical boundaries recently. Early diagnosis of Dengue is essential to prevent the complications. The study was done in a tertiary care hospital to have an insight about the seroprevalence during the dry months from March to August.

Dengue Fever is a Flaviviral infection transmitted by the Aedes mosquitoes. It is a major public health issue in tropical and subtropical countries. Dengue virus is having four serotypes. It may progress to Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever, which can lead to Dengue Shock Syndrome and death. The study was conducted in the Department of Microbiology. K S. Hegde Medical Academy with the blood samples collected from the patients with clinical diagnoses of Dengue without any age or gender restriction. The samples were collected from the period of October 2015 to April 2017.

Dengue fever is a Flavirus disease transmitted by Aedes mosquito. Primary dengue virus infection is characterized by elevations in specific NS1 antigen levels 0 to 9 days after the onset of symptoms. This retrospective study was conducted to assess performance of rapid ICTs in acute dengue diagnosis in comparison to ELISA test. It was conducted on 2234 serum samples received at The Department of Microbiology, Apollo Diagnostics, Regional Reference Laboratory, Chennai from September 2017 to November 2017 by ICT and ELISA to detect NS1 antigen.

Dengue fever is an arthropod borne viral disease present as either a non-specific illness, dengue fever (DF) or DHF, DSS leading to hospitalization or death. In routine laboratories diagnosis is mainly based on the detection of dengue antigens (NS1) or antibodies (IgM and IgG) by ELISA kits. Objectives of the study are to find out the seropositivity of dengue virus infection in patients admitted in a tertiary care hospital and to study the clinical presentation of dengue in serologically diagnosed cases. The study was conducted Department of Microbiology, GMC Aurangabad.

Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease of global public health concern. As per national records there has been steady increase in cases every passing year Gupta N et al., 2012(3) An intense dengue infection swept hyderabad in 2019.Early diagnosis of dengue is important and canbe established with commercially available serological assays Chaturvedi UC et al., 2004 (1).A total of 733 serum samples from suspected dengue cases were collected. Serological tests(ELISA )specific for dengue were performed.

Dengue fever is a re-emerging viral disease commonly occurring in tropical and subtropical areas. The clinical features and abnormal laboratory test results of dengue infection are similar to those of other febrile illnesses; hence, its accurate and timely diagnosis for providing appropriate treatment is difficult.

Health care providers lacking proper diagnostic tools are usually unable to determine specific etiologies, often diagnosing patients with acute undifferentiated febrile illness (AUFI) presumptively based on clinical features and assumptions regarding circulating pathogens. Acute fever can be potentially fatal if the etiology is not recognized and treated appropriately. A cross-sectional study was conducted in a tertiary care hospital, Bengaluru, from July-December 2018. Blood was collected from patients with acute fever for peripheral smear, serological tests.

Dengue fever is an acute febrile infectious disease, caused by any of four serotypes. Severe dengue infections may give rise to many complications such as liver failure, disseminated intravascular coagulation, encephalopathy, myocarditis, acute renal failure and haemolytic uraemic syndrome. ST segment and T wave changes in the electrocardiogram together with low ejection fraction and global hypokinesia on radionuclide ventriculography have been found. Hence, this study was intended to assess the cardiac manifestations in dengue fever patients.

Dengue is an acute viral infection with fatal complications and noted as endemic in India. Since the clinical presentation of dengue is nonspecific, dengue diagnosis would benefit from a sensitive rapid diagnostic test (RDT) to reduce the disease burden and with supportive therapy reduces morbidity and mortality. Platelet count is the only accessory test for diagnosis of dengue infection in the peripheral laboratories. Therefore, in this study association of platelet counts and Ns1 antigen, (IgM, IgG) antibody is evaluated in dengue infections.

Dengue has become a major international public health problem due to human morbidity and mortality it causes. Dengue NS1 antigen has been detected in the serum of DEN virus infected patients as early as one day of onset of symptoms. In this study the potential use of dengue NS1 antigen and in early dengue diagnosis has been analysed. The study group consists of all febrile patients with fever of duration less than 5 days attending the medical OPD for a period of one year from July 2013. The blood sample was subjected to an immunochromatographic test for NS1 antigen, IgM and IgG antibodies.

Rickettsial diseases are an important cause of undifferentiated acute febrile illness. The lack of classical manifestations can make their diagnosis difficult. Even though the diseases are endemic in India, they are less reported from New Delhi and surrounding regions. Aim is to estimate the seropositivity of Rickettsial infections in cases of undifferentiated acute febrile illness from a tertiary care hospital in New Delhi and to analyze their clinical profile. This prospective observational study was conducted from November 2016 to March 2018.

Dengue is a mosquito borne viral disease (Priyadarshini et al., 2016). It belongs to the family of Flavivirus. It is transmitted mainly by the bite of Aedes aegypti mosquito. Outbreaks are due to the four serotypes DEN1, DEN2, DEN3, DEN4. Increasing incidence and repeated outbreaks turns this disease as a serious public health problem (Barrera et al., 2002). Urbanization, improper water management and the vector population are the main causes for the spread of the disease. Dengue is a leading causes of hospitalization and death among children (Mistry et al., 2013).
