Multiple published studies quantitatively analysing the diagnostic value of MRI, MR arthrography (MRA) and CT arthrography (CTA) for labral lesions of the shoulder have had inconsistent results. The aim of this meta-analysis was to systematically compare the diagnostic performance of MRI, MRA, CTA and CT.

Acute hip pain caused by femoral proximal fractures or acute hip arthritis requires imaging for accurate diagnosis. Although pocket-sized ultrasound (PsUS) offers several advantages over other imaging modalities, there is limited information regarding its use in diagnosing femoral proximal fractures or acute hip arthritis.

A locked thumb metacarpophalangeal joint is a rare condition that presents as restricted joint motions with mild hyperextension deformity, usually after a relatively minor hyperextension injury. Owing to the limitations of radiographs, computed tomography is a useful diagnostic imaging modality for assessing sesamoid displacement.

In recent years, hyperspectral microscopy techniques such as infrared or Raman microscopy have been applied successfully for diagnostic purposes. In many of the corresponding studies, it is common practice to measure one and the same sample under different types of microscopes.

Approximately 20–30% of patients with pT4 colon cancer develop metachronous peritoneal metastases (PM). Due to restricted accuracy of imaging modalities and absence of early symptoms, PM are often detected at a stage in which only a quarter of patients are eligible for curative intent treatment.

Renal cell carcinoma is rarely diagnosed during pregnancy. Its management is a real challenge due to the sparse literature and lack of standard guidelines. In this situation, the diagnosis is often delayed as the clinical presentation might resemble other pregnancy-related disorders but it should be one of the diagnostic possibilities in women with recurrent or refractory urinary tract symptoms, renal pain, or mass that could be palpated. Diagnostic approach may include ultrasound examination and sometimes magnetic resonance imaging.

The aim of this study was to determine the feasibility, accuracy and diagnostic potential of combined static-excretory MR Urography in children with sonographically detected hydronephrosis. We prospectively evaluated 28 children (11 girls and 17 boys), mean age 8.3 years (range 2 months–16 years). Static-excretory MR Urography was performed in all cases. The results of MR Urography were compared with the results of other imaging modalities, cystoscopy and surgery. In 28 children, 61 renal units were evaluated by MR Urography (the renal unit is the kidney and its draining ureter).

Many soils which have received manure or synthetic applications over a number of years contain relatively high levels of soil phosphorus. In soils which have not been so fertilized, phosphorus levels may be low. Rock powders suc as colloidal phosphate and rock phosphate can be applied to build up the phosphorus-supplying power of a soil over time. However, these products become available to plants very slowly, and cannot be relied upon to supply adequate phosphorus to a crop the year of application when soil level of phosphorus are low.

Already in the old times, the methods of tapping the rubber tree and processes for making crude articles from latex had been developed. Primitive technology for obtaining latex had been used nearly three and a half centuries after the discovery of rubber in the West. Once technical improvement of rubber tapping took place, the use of rubber increased; but the overall consumption of rubber was not greatly changed during that time. The merged civilization of the East and the West made their first big joint contribution to rubber technology when vulcanization was discovered in 1839. ...

The mortality from ischemic heart disease has decreased in recent years. The better under‐ standing of risk factors associated with development of coronary artery disease (CAD) has significantly contributed to this decline. Preventive measures such as aggressive therapy of arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and lipid disorders and by campaigning against the smoking are important components of this medical success.

The latest diagnostic and therapeutic modalities in the management of coronary artery dis‐ ease by coronary artery bypass graft surgery and by percutaneous coronary intervention with stenting and in the interventional management of other atherosclerotic vascular disease have led to a reduction in cardiovascular mortality and morbidity. This book entitled Artery Bypass provides an excellent update on these advances which every physician seeing pa‐ tients with atherosclerotic vascular disease should be familiar with.

We examine the competition between a group of Internet retailers who operate in an environment where a price search engine plays a dominant role.We show that for some products in this environment, the easy price search makes demand tremendously pricesensitive. Retailers, though, engage in obfuscation—practices that frustrate consumer search or make it less damaging to firms—resulting in much less price sensitivity on some other products. We discuss several models of obfuscation and examine its effects on demand and markups empirically.

The congresses (sometimes called general assemblies, conventions, conferences etc.) alternate between venues within their region or the world either on a fixed rotation or by invitation. They can be held annually, or every two, three, four or even five years and a whole industry has been built up around the association meetings segment as their economic attractiveness has become apparent to destinations globally.
