Waterlogging is one of the most serious abiotic stresses affecting wheat-growing regions in China. Considerable differences in waterlogging tolerance have been found among different wheat varieties, and the mechanisms governing the waterlogging tolerance of wheat seeds during germination have not been elucidated.

The obtained results showed that the irrigation treatments (3 events) gave the lowest values for water consumptive use, grain, straw, biological yield and 1000-grain weight. Nitrogen fertilizer in ammonia up to 90 kg N fed1 decreased all characters studied except grain yield which has no any significant differences between both N levels.

China has diverse wheat varieties that adapt to very different environments divided into ten agroecological zones. A better understanding of genomic differences and patterns of selection among agro-ecological zones could provide useful information in selection of specific adaptive traits in breeding.

Although area of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) under rainfed conditions is less in Northwestern India but selection of appropriate variety plays an important role in the success of crop. The experiment was conducted at the Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana (300 54' N and 750 48' E; 247 m ASL) during winter seasons of 2009-10 and 2010-11 on loamy sand soil with low in organic matter.

Field experiment was conducted at Research Farm AICRP on Wheat Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Jabalpur (M.P.) during Rabi season, 2016-17. The experiment consisted of 12 treatment combinations viz. in main plot 2 seed rates (50 and 100 kg/ha at 20 cm) and 3 spacing (15x15, 20x 15 and 20x20 cm dibbling) and whereas sub plot included genotypes (HI 1544, HI 8737). The highest yield was obtained in dibbling 15x15 cm (50.13 q/ha) followed by line sowing @ 20 cm with seed rate of 100 kg/ha (49.54q/ha) but the differences were not significant.

Attempts has made to find the inheritance pattern of free threshability and other quantitative traits in emmer wheat has fragile rachis and non-free threshing kernels by crossing a non free threshing variety dicoccum DDK-1025, with two advanced free threshable mutant lines (ML-1 and ML-2) during Rabi 2013. Genetic systems operating in the both the crosses were found different for most of the characters as evident by differences in nature of gene action in these two crosses.

Among various production factors for wheat crop, time of sowing and wheat varieties are crucial ones influencing productivity. Onset of various phenophases of wheat crop is greatly related with the prevailing temperature at that time. Any deviation from optimum temperature for onset of phenophase may drastically reduce the crop productivity. Similarly wheat varieties play vital role under different temperature situation.
