In general, the fluctuation of the elastic modulus of materials is crucial in structural analysis. This paper develops a stochastic finite element method (SFEM) for analyzing a nonuniform column considering the random process in elastic modulus. This random process of elastic modulus is assumed as a one-dimensional Gaussian random field. The weighted integration method is used to discretize the random field and establish the stochastic finite element formulation to compute the first and second moments of displacement fields.

In this paper, an efficient computational approach is developed to investigate the free-vibration behavior of functionally graded plates. The problem is developed based on a three-dimensional elasticity theory, which is expected to capture the structural response accurately. Isogeometric analysis is employed as a discretion tool to solve the problems.

Recently, conventional logistic maps have been used in different vital applications like modeling and security. However, unfortunately the conventional logistic maps can tolerate only one changeable parameter. In this paper, three different generalized logistic maps are introduced with arbitrary powers which can be reduced to the conventional logistic map. The added parameter (arbitrary power) increases the degree of freedom of each map and gives us a versatile response that can fit many applications.

We further study isogeometric approach for response analysis of laminated composite plates using the higher-order shear deformation theory. The present theory is derived from the classical plate theory (CPT) and the shear stress free surface conditions are naturally satisfied. Therefore, shear correction factors are not required. Galerkin weak form of response analysis model for laminated composite plates is used to obtain the discrete system of equations.
