Drowsiness detection

The article proposes a real-time algorithm to detect the drowsiness phenomenon based on a standard camera. Face landmarks are identified, especially around the subject's eyes. On that basis, a scale function from extracting scalar quantities of face landmarks is calculated representing realtime eye-opening and closing times.

In this paper, a novel algorithm and a novel system of drowsiness detection is proposed. We used the infrared wave and Raspberry in order to design an efficient and user-friendly sleep detection system. The designed system could detect the human face in day or night light and reduce traffic accidents, regain a life for many people. The testing worked well in many cases.

Caffeine (1,3,7-trimethylxanthine) is naturally found in the leaves, seeds or fruits of over 63 plants species worldwide. It is contained highly in coffee, tea, cacao beverage products. Caffeine showed good effects in enhancing performance and perception of exercise, reducing fatigue and drowsiness, and improving memory and learning effects. Although caffeine intoxications are rare, they showed its unhealthy potential factor, resulting in tachycardia, atrial arrhythmias, convulsions or even coma.

In this article, a system to detect driver drowsiness and distraction based on image sensing technique is created. With a camera used to observe the face of driver, the image processing system embedded in the Raspberry Pi 3 Kit will generate a warning sound when the driver shows drowsiness based on the eye-closed state or a yawn. To detect the closed eye state, we use the ratio of the distance between the eyelids and the ratio of the distance between the upper lip and the lower lip when yawning.

This article implements a face detection process as a preliminary step to monitor the state of drowsiness on vehicle's drivers. We propose an algorithm for pre-detection based on image processing and machine learning methods. A Gabor filter bank is used for facial features extraction.
