  • Field pea is a legume most commonly consumed all over the world and is very popular in the vegetarian diets because of high levels of amino acids, lysine and tryptophan presence in it as compared to cereals. A field experiment was carried out in Inceptisols of Midland AICRPDA, during rabi 2020-21 in Instructional cum Research Farm, S.G. College of Agriculture and Research Station, I.G.K.V., Kumhrawand, Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, India lies at 19°5'17.79"N latitude and 81°57'44.99"E longitude with an altitude of 552 meters above mean sea level.   • For adopting a particular cropping plan, the time of onset of monsoon is the most important single parameter but it has not been considered in most of the studies conducted for crop planning under rainfed regions. Rainfall data of Bhilwara district in Rajasthan state for a period of 57 years were analysed from two approaches viz.; „Meteorological‟ approach and „Onset of monsoon‟ approach.

  • This study is aimed at assessing the impact of rainfall distribution pattern on the growth and yield of soybean crop in selected districts of Madhya Pradesh. The crop growth is found to be more sensitive to rainfall pattern at critical stages. Prolonged dry spells at critical life stages of the soybean crop are found to adversely affect crop development and growth and hence the yields at selected sites. Rainfall and yield data of selected districts of Madhya Pradesh were collected and analysed for the period of 11 years (2004-2014).

  • Field experiment was conducted at University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore with an objective to enhance productivity of finger millet intercropping in organic system of production during Kharif 2006 and 2007. Different organic manures at 50 kg N equivalent used in the experiment are Farm yard manure (FYM), sewage sludge, poultry manure compost (PMC), urban garbage compost, enriched urban garbage compost and vermicompost (VC) compared to inorganic fertilizers alone. Irrigation water was provided during dry spells throughout the crop growth period.

  • Chhattisgarh, the 26th state of the Indian Union came into existence on November 1st, 2000. In Chhattisgarh, maize is a kharif season crop and second most important crop next to paddy in terms of both area and production. The state has got very good potential for maize but the productivity is very low due to cultivation of open pollinated varieties (OPVs) and improper input management practices. The real potential can be realized by the adoption of hybrid maize especially single cross hybrids with full package of practices.
