Ebook "Durability design of concrete structures: Report of RILEM technical committee 130-CSL" is the first systematic attempt to introduce into structural design a general theory of structural reliability and existing calculation models for common degradation processes. It covers both the theoretical background and practical design for service life and includes worked examples which highlight the application of the design procedure and methods.

This is due to the reduction of calcium hydroxide and the increase of secondary CSH in the cement matrix from the pozzolanic reaction of a mineral admixture. The result of the study with modern experiment methods confirmed the improvement of strength and durability for hardened cement using mineral admixture, thereby ensuring the good applicability of the additional admixtures used in concrete of marine structures.

Energy harvesting technology generating electrical energy from structural responses has been in the spotlight recently because of the development of self-powered autonomous wireless sensor systems. This study proposed and tested a high-sensitivity, high-durability, low-cost vibration power-generating device using a magnetostrictive element (Fe-Ga alloy) on a real-scale prestressed concrete girder to investigate its practical performance.

Concrete members used for protecting seadike slope have to be suffered from a severe attack caused by both chemical composition of seawater and mechanical action of wave and current, leading to the decrease in durability and lifetime rapidly. In order to address this problem, this paper presents the method by using a combination of various types of admixtures to improve both corrosion and abrasion resistance for concrete, thus producing the product with higher durability and extending longer lifetime.

Chloride diffusivity is an important factor affecting the durability of a reinforced concrete structure in the marine environment. Chloride permeability of concrete has been improved greatly by using superplasticising admixture and silica fume. From the mathematical model suggested by Tang Luping and Lars Olof Nilsson, the rapidly chloride diffusivity of concrete specimens could be determined.

It is necessary for concrete structure with mass section to have a rational crack control plan based on analysis of thermal stress from hydration heat. Because mass concrete can cause crack to deteriorate durability of structure. So, this study reports two examples: one is a process to calculate an adiabatic temperature rise and a reaction rate for evaluate thermal stress.
