  • Non-invasive methods are easy, simple, and effortless ways of collecting resources for the detection of biomarkers in water buffaloes. Among non-invasive fluid resources, saliva is a rich source of biomarkers, unlike milk and urine samples with no time restriction to obtain a sample. Saliva is a real-time indicator of the pathophysiology of animal health status, it has a source of many biomarkers including RNA and miRNAs, Studying RNA biology is less complex as compared to other “omics” study.

  • Here we report the usefulness of a new method for evaluation of a core set of common bean genotypes in terms of a new index based on a combination of stress susceptibility index, the stress tolerance index, the mean production index, the geometric mean production index, and the tolerance index, which have been previously used either in isolation or together for understanding water stress adaptation. The method is based on a scoring scale, offers simple and easy visualization and identification of resilient, productive and/or contrasting genotypes based on grain yield.

  • A simple and easy protocol for isolation of DNA from major plant pathogen Alternaria spp has been developed in which DNA extracted using CTAB extraction method from fresh mycelium of fungi crushed with sterile sand particles and liquid nitrogen. The DNA was precipitated first with equal volume of phenolchloroform-isoamylalcohol (25:24:1) and further with equal volume of chloroform-isoamylalcohol (24:1). Repeated centrifugation was done at 10000 g for 10 minutes at room temperature.

  • The robust technique of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) has revolutionized the field of plant molecular biology and has made the molecular characterization of crop plants easy, rapid and reproducible. Only a minute amount of input genomic DNA is required in PCR. But, the isolated DNA must be free from different contaminants, which can potentially act as PCR inhibitors. The efficiency of PCR might be reduced in case of the medicinal and aromatic plants, due to the presence of biomolecules acting as PCR inhibitors.

  • Respiratory tract infections are very common in critically ill patients in hospital settings. Endotracheal aspiration is a simple and easy method to perform especially in ICU patients for obtaining samples from lower respiratory tract. Therefore, this study was carried out to determine the microbiological spectrum and antibiotic susceptibility profile of Endotracheal aspirates among patients admitted in our institute. The present study was conducted on 348 ETT aspirate samples received in the Department of Microbiology, GMC, Jammu for a period of 1 year i.e. April 2017- 2018.

  • The use of enzymes in a free form is very uneconomical because the enzymes generally cannot be recovered at the end of the reaction. These drawbacks can be overcome by immobilization of the enzyme thereby rendering it more stable and easy to recover and recycle. It is a very effective alternative for gripping the problems of instability, repetitive use and reduction in the cost of enzyme. The aim of this research was to obtain the optimum condition of the making of immobilized amylase beads using a different natural matrix. The result obtain that amylase producing isolate i.e.

  • Neonatal septicemia constitutes a significant cause of neonatal mortality & morbidity in developing countries. It becomes essential to diagnose it as early as possible to reduce the mortality and treat with appropriate antibiotics. CRP is a sensitive & good inflammatory marker. Definite diagnosis of septicemia depends on positive blood culture, which takes around 48-72 hrs. Result of CRP test is available within an hour in tertiary care centers and remote areas, where there is no availability of well equipped laboratory setup for blood culture.
