Traditional organic farming practices are beneficial but in most of the cases the science behind it is not well understood. The aim of present study was selection of grassroots practice from SRISTI database and its validation for crops growth promotion. Formulation was prepared and studied for their microbial content and growth. Results showed maximum bacterial population as compared to fungi and actinomycetes population. Five bacterial isolates showed phosphate solubilizing activity and these isolates were further studied as bioinoculants for Zea mays L. growth in pot experiment.

A field experiment was conducted to assess the combined effect of bioinoculants on nutrient uptake, forskolin content (diterpene) and tuber yield of Coleus forskohlii (cutivar; K-8). The microbial inoculants such as Azotobacter chroococcum, Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Glomus fasciculatum (VAM) were used. Bioagents such as Trichoderma harzianum and Pseudomonas fluorescens were used. Bioinoculants were examined along with graded levels of recommended dose of N and P2O5 with 100% K2O fertilizers. Nutrient uptake showed significant difference among the treatments.

Due to climate change, abiotic and biotic stresses like soil salinity, drought, pH, high temperature and plant fungal diseases are major threat for agriculture production and which reduces the growing demand of food of the population. To cope the adverse effect of such stresses, use of wide variety of synthetic chemical fertilizers cause serious hazardous effects on environment, soil, water and human health. Use of microorganisms as a bioinoculants is a new green eco-friendly technology for sustainable agriculture production and can lessen the effect of these stresses.

Study was conducted to evaluate the effect of different fertilizer regimes on fungal to bacterial ratio and correlation between the carbon related microbial community and enzyme activities. Result showed that application of bioinoculant with green manure significantly decreased F/B biomass ratio (0.441) which is significantly lower than treatment having sole application of inorganic fertilizer.

An experiment was conducted to find out the effect of organic and inorganic sources of fertilizers along with bioinoculants on growth, yield and quality of aonla cv. NA-7 during 2016 and 2017. Maximum increment in vegetative parameters viz., increment in plant height (10.92%), plant spread (13.91% NS and 13.88% EW) and canopy volume (40.32%) was recorded with the application of cent per cent nitrogen through urea and Azotobacter with recommended dosage of SSP and MOP. Yield parameters viz., fruit length (4.52 cm), fruit diameter (5.24 cm), fruit weight (48.56 g), fruit volume (47.

The investigation was carried out at the Horticultural Research Station, Dr. Y. S. R. Horticultural University, Andhra Pradesh during Rabi 2017-18 to study the effect of bioinoculants and inorganics on quality characters of carrot. Two factors were taken, the first factor being the chemical fertilizers at three levels (100%, 75%, 50% of RDF) and the second factor was the different combinations of five biofertilizers (PSB, KSB, Azospirillum, Azotobacter, VAM).The experimental design adopted was the factorial RBD with 12 treatment combinations.
