Antimicrobial resistance is becoming increasingly important in both human and veterinary medicine. According to the One Health concept, an important step is to monitor the resistance patterns of pathogenic bacteria. In this study, the antimicrobial susceptibility patterns and trends of bacteria isolated from stray cats, hospital-admitted cats, and veterinary staff in South Korea between 2017 and 2018 were investigated.

The association between specific bacteria and colorectal cancer (CRC) has been proposed. Only a few studies have, however, investigated this relationship directly in colorectal tissue with conflicting results. So, we aimed to quantitative Streptococcus gallolyticus, Fusobacterium spp, Enterococcus faecalis and enterotoxigenic Bacteroides fragilis (ETBF) in formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded (FFPE) colorectal tissue samples of Iranian CRC patients and healthy controls.

Aim of the study was to isolate and characterize Gram positive cocci causing urinary tract infections in catheterized patients and to study the antimicrobial sensitivity pattern of the urinary isolates. Total of 100 catheterised patients in Intensive care units were analysed retrospectively in a period of 1 year from December 2017 to November 2018 to assess the urinary tract infections. Of 100 cases,11 showed catheter associated urinary tract infections. Out of them 10 were Enterococcus spp, and 1 was Coagulase negative staphylococci.

Surgical site infections are most common nosocomial infection and are associated with prolonged hospital stay, health care cost, morbidity and mortality. The causative agents involved in SSI’s may vary with geographical location, between surgeons, various procedures and from hospital to hospital. The present study was done to determine the aerobic bacterial flora from surgical site infections and their antimicrobial resistance pattern. A total of 50 culture positive samples obtained from SSI’s were included in this study.

Urinary tract infection is one of the most common bacterial infections worldwide and is defined as the bacterial infiltration of otherwise sterile urinary tract. This includes both the upper and the lower urinary tract including urethra (urethritis), bladder (cystitis), ureters (ureteritis) and kidney (pyelonephritis). Common uropathogens are Escherichia coli, Enterococcus faecalis, Klebsiella pneumonia, Pseudomonas spp. and Proteus mirabilis. These infections have risk of high recurrence rates and increasing antimicrobial resistance among uropathogens has enhanced economic burden.

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are one of the most common bacterial infections encountered in clinical practice. The knowledge of etiology and antibiogram of uropathogens helps in starting empirical treatment till the results of antibiotic susceptibility is awaited. Therefore this two year retrospective study was undertaken to determine the bacteriology and antimicrobial susceptibility pattern of UTIs in a tertiary care hospital. Urine samples from patients suspected of having UTI were processed according to standard microbiological techniques.
