Wireworms (Agriotes obscurus, Agriotes lineatus, Agriotes sordidus) are major pests of arable crops. Damage caused by these subterranean pests has increased following the withdrawal of many traditional synthetic insecticides. Wireworms are susceptible to entomopathogenic fungi belonging to the genus Metarhizium. The aim of this study was to determine if exposure of different wireworm species to sublethal doses of the insecticide spinosad altered their susceptibility to different strains of Metarhizium brunneum. Of the three wireworm species studied, A.

Cordyceps militaris is an insect pathogenic fungus that is prized for its use in traditional medicine. This and other entomopathogenic fungi are understudied sources for the discovery of new bioactive molecules. In this study, PacBio SMRT long read sequencing technology was used to sequence the genome of C. militaris with a focus on the genetic potential for secondary metabolite production in the genome assembly of this fungus.

Beauveria bassiana (B. bassiana) is a famous entomopathogenic fungus that could parasitize on hundreds of insect species, which are being used as an environmentally friendly mycoinsecticide. Nevertheless, the possible effect of genetic diversity of these B. bassiana isolates from different hosts on virulence has not been explored before.

Ophiocordyceps sinensis (Berk.) is a well-known entomopathogenic and medicinal fungus. It parasitizes and mummifies the underground ghost moth larvae to produce a fruiting body named Chinese cordyceps. Specific for the fungus, O. sinensis experiences a biotrophic vegetative growth period spanning over 5 months.

Hybrid genome assembly approaches leverage benefits of both long, relatively error-prone reads from third-generation sequencing technologies and short, accurate reads from secondgeneration sequencing technologies, to produce more accurate and contiguous de novo genome assemblies in comparison to using either technology independently.

The liquid formulations of Nomuraea rileyi, an important entomopathogenic fungus were prepared by using two vegetable oils and two mineral oils viz., olive oil, rice bran oil, liquid paraffin oil, heavy grade mineral oil. N. rileyi spore mass was harvested from culture plates and mixed to autoclaved test oils in the proportions of 0.1g (0.5 x 108 spores/0.1 g) and 0.2g (0.1 x 109 spores/0.2 g) per 100ml. Triton-X 100, a wetting agent was also used in two different concentrations i.e., 0.05% and 0.1% for all four test oils. The pathogenicity of N.

The present study was done to investigate the histopathological effect of the entomopathogenic fungi, Metarhizium anisopliae on Odontotermes obesus using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Adult worker termites were inoculated with 1x109 conidia/ml suspension of the fungi and maintained at 25±1°C temperature and 80 % relative humidity. SEM study showed that when this mitotic (asexual) spore (called conidia) of the fungus came into contact with the body of the termite, they germinated and the hyphae of the fungus that emerged penetrated the cuticle.

The bio efficacy of selected bio control agents viz. Metarhizium anisopliae, Beauveria bassiana, Lecanicilium lecanii and Chrysoperla zastrowii against Amrasca biguttula biguttula was studied under insectary, Department of Agricultural Entomology, TNAU, Coimbatore, India during 2014-2015. Three different concentrations viz., 1 x 104 , 1 x 106 , 1 x 108 spore/ml of these each entomopathogenic fungus were tested to evaluate the effective concentration. Among the three concentrations, 1 x 108 spores/ml of L. lecanii recorded the highest mortality of 85.

The present study was conducted to know the comparative efficacy of Entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana and certain indigenous products against the larvae of diamond back moth, Plutella xylostella (Linn) on Cabbage (Brassica oleracea) a lab trial was conducted during the 2017-2018 at SHUATS, Allahabad. All the treatments were found significantly superior over control. Among the treatments the highest larval mortality of 100 % with the treatment T4 and the minimum larval mortality of 26.666% was recorded with the treatment T2 (NL+BBM).

Entomopathogenic fungi suppress the diverse group of insect pest such as coleopterans, lepidopterous and sucking pest. Wide spread incidence of Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus tamarii was observed during extensive and repeated survey covering different agro ecological niches of Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nasik and Beed districts of Maharashtra (India) on insect cadavers infected with fungi. From the insect cadavers the fungal isolates were isolated on PDA media.
