Farm households in the production

This study examines the costs and benefits of traditional rice production as well as of different adaptation methods to saltwater intrusion in the Central Coastal region of Vietnam. Data is collected through a structured questionnaire at the farm household level, focus groups discussion and through key informant interviews. Our results indicate that traditional rice production becomes less profitable as the level of saltwater intrusion on the land plots increases.

This study attempts to measure attitudes toward risk and analyze the influence of farmers' attitudes toward risk on the economic efficiency in hybrid maize cultivation offarm households in the Mekong Delta. Based on the research results, the author has proposed solutions to the reduction of risk aversion and the enhancement of economic efficiency in produoction, contributing to improving the income of farm households.

Backyard poultry farming has been recognized as an effective tool for poverty alleviation in the rural families of Punjab. The level of monthly income from backyard poultry is sufficient for livelihood (20-25 birds) and an important source of supplementing earnings. It provides eggs and meat for family consumption and to some extent cash income to the family. It enhances rural livelihoods with minimum expenditure and stimulates economic growth of resource poor households in rural areas.

This study uses the data collected from a household survey on 100 farmers in Lung Ngoc Hoang Nature reserve. Economic efficiency in the present study was estimated from stochastic profit frontier function. Farm household makes an average profit of about 18,33 and 8,02 million dongs in Winter-Spring and Summer-Autumn crop, respectively.

The purpose of the study was to analyze the current practice of shrimp farming in the north central Vietnam, to evaluate the status of agricultural production and economic conditions - social and environment, and determine the limit application of better management practices. The report presents the results of a survey of 90 shrimp farmers in north-central provinces of Vietnam (Ha Tinh, Nghe An and Thua Thien-Hue). 270 households surveyed and interviewed. After analyzing the survey data, 30 households in Hai Thuong Commune, Phu Hai, Hai Lang district has been selected involved in the project. Each family chose a range from 3 to 15 Mong Cai sows. All households selected for breeding pigs, learning and sharing technical knowledge in the pig production.
