  • The present study was conducted during the year 2017-18 in Senapati District, Manipur. Out of total sixteen districts in the state, Senapati District was selected as it comprised of ST communities. One sub-division i.e. Mao-Maram was selected out of seven sub-division keeping in view of highest tribal population and population density. A multistage sampling procedure was followed. A sample of tribal farmers consisting 125 respondents was selected from five villages of the sub-division based on simple random sampling.

  • The present study was conducted with an objective to study the sociological characteristics of farmers practicing fish farming in Manipur. This study was conducted on 80 farmers in three villages viz. Ishok, Oinam, and Naorem under Nambol block of Bishnupur district. It was aimed to analyze the sociological characteristics of the widespread practice of fish farming in Manipur. The study was undertaken from December 2016 to February 2017 and the date pertains of the year 2016.

  • Pig farming is dispensable to the tribal folks of Manipur, India. In this study, we tried to establish baseline information on the socio-personal and socio-economical status of small scale tribal pig farmers in the state. Altogether, 400 tribal pig farmers, rearing ≥ 2 pigs were selected randomly and interviewed from 4 blocks of Senapati district, Manipur. The study showed that majority of tribal pig farmers (69.75%) belonged to middle age groups (31-50 years), followed by 19.25% young age groups (up to 30 years), and 11% old age groups (> 50 years), respectively.

  • The present study was conducted with an objective to analyses the socio-personal profile of farmers practicing integrated-fish-farming of Manipur. This study was conducted on 300 farmers in 15 villages viz. Takcham, Tentha, Athokpam, Lameidong, Wabagai, Hiyanglam, Khabi Bomdiar, Wangoi, Uchiwa, Leimapokpam, Irengbam, Maibam, Naharup, Heyanglam, and Top. These 15 villages were selected from 5 districts viz. Thoubal, Kakching, Imphal West, Bishnupur and Imphal East district, respectively. It was aimed to analyses the Socio-personal profile of the farmers practicing the integrated-fishfarming.

  • The study was conducted in Thoubal district of Manipur state with the overall objectives of the cost and return analysis, resource use efficiency, marketing efficiency and its problems during production and marketing. The research is based on the data collected by using proportionate sampling from a total of 100 dairy farm sample households comprising of 60 Crossbred and 40 Local cows. Net maintenance cost for a milking crossbred cow was Rs. 161.71 and for a milking local cow was Rs. 55.42 per day, respectively. Net return per day from a crossbred milking cow was Rs. 166.

  • This study was undertaken at Bishnupur, Imphal West and Thoubal districts of Manipur to identify the constraints and suggestions as perceived by the fish farmers towards the adoption of scientific fish farming of Pengba. Data were obtained through pre tested and structured interview schedule from 80 respondents. Major constraint as perceived by most of the respondents was economic constraints with mean score 1.92.
