The puffing machine was designed, fabricated and tested. This machine consists of blower unit, heating unit, container, casing, wooden platform and power consumption. Two types of power transmission was used in the developed machine, one from electric motor of 0.25 hp capacity for blower and the other one for heating coil connected directly to electric source. After achieving 220-250oC temperature in the container, the specified feed rate of conditioned rice in to the container will result in puffed rice within a short span of around 10-12 sec.

Microorganisms produce certain commercially important secondary metabolites like antibiotics, carotenoid pigments, toxins and so on, some of which are of commercial importance. Carotenoid is a group of pigment and its production is a natural phenomenon in case of certain microorganisms. Yeast is a unicellular eukaryotic organism occurring in soil, air, feed and fodder of dairy farm environment. Among yeast, Rhodotorula sp. produces both extra and intracellular carotenoid pigments.

Conjunctivitis is inflammation of conjunctiva of eye. In recent times, it was found that Gatifloxacin is more safe and effective in treatment of acute form of conjunctivitis than with the same dose of ciprofloxacin. This article presents two case reports in birds wherein Gatifloxacin treatment was used for treatment of conjunctivitis. A female Aseel bird, 1 ½ years old and a Cockatiel bird, 1 year old was brought to the Avian and Exotic Pet Unit of Madras Veterinary College with the history of swollen eyes and off-feed for the past three days.

The demand of green fodder for livestock rearing has been increasing and livestock breeds of farmers require good quality fodder and feed in order to increase milk yield of exotic breed. The study was conducted in Kerala state of India and comprised of 242 farmers selected from three districts of the state. The impact of fodder cultivation was assessed on five levels viz. direct, social, economic, psychological and indirect impact. The study revealed that the highest percentage of farmers perceived fodder cultivation to have a medium level impact on their overall livelihood.

A total of 40 faecal samples were examined from pigeons belonging to a pet owner at Chennai with the history of inappetance and blood tinged droppings. Microscopic examination of droppings revealed oocysts of Eimeria spp. The birds became active and alert with normal feeding habits after 7 days of treatment with amprolium soluble powder.

The present study was conducted to record the incidence of chronic respiratory disease of layer and broiler birds in Ayodhya district of Eastern Uttar Pradesh. The naturally dead birds from 10 different private farms in Ayodhya district of Eastern Uttar Pradesh was collected for 6 months (October, 2018 to March, 2019). After post-mortem examination, the grossly suspected samples (trachea, air sac and lung) were kept for further histopathological and immunohistochemical study.

The present study was conducted on 30 cattle presented at the institutional veterinary hospital which were diagnosed of suffering for the small bowel intussusception. Detailed signalment including age, sex, breed, pregnancy status and season were recorded in all the animals. History of feed and water intake, defecation status, rumination status, type of feeding, any recent change in feed, history of deworming and feeding of mineral mixture was also recorded.Clinical signs such as signs of colic, abdominal distension, rumen impaction, laboured breathing and ruminal bloat were accessed.

A sample of 34 solar flares recorded in Hanoi using the VATLY radio telescope between April 2012 and January 2014 at frequencies of 1415 and 1417.6 MHz is compared with the corresponding observations made at 1415 MHz by the solar observatory of Learmonth (Australia). While good overall agreement is obtained, a few differences are noted and studied in some detail. In particular, the use of different feeds in Hanoi and Learmonth reveals a case of very large polarization of the flare emission.

Historic notification and hospitalization data were used to calculate annual rates of campylobacteriosis in New Zealand during 1980–2009 for notifications and 1996–2009 for hospitalizations. A detailed descriptive analysis was then undertaken to examine the epidemiology of campylobacteriosis for the 12-year period 1997–2008 on the basis of notified and hospitalized cases. Campylobacteriosis notification data are collated nationally by the Institute of Environmental Science and Research Ltd from notifications made by medical practitioners to their local public health service.

The tobacco smoke a smoker inhales is different from the smoke inhaled by those nearby. The major source of passive smoke is from the burning of the cigarette rather than what is exhaled by smokers. Both types of smoke contain thousands of chemicals. The chemicals present in both these types of smoke are similar, but the concentrations of the chemicals are different. Many of the toxic chemicals in tobacco smoke are found in higher concentrations in the tobacco smoke as it leaves the cigarette compared to inhaled smoke; in some cases, the concentrations are far higher.
