The paper "A combination of ALOS-2, Sentinel-1 imagery for rapid deforestation detection in Vietnam" focuses on combining two different wavelength SAR data types (C-band and L-band), HV and HH polarizations to detect clear-cut and forest fires. The author uses the method of comparing the backscatter values before and after deforestation to detect forest loss, with the Sentinel-1 time series data using the RCR (Radar Change Ratio) method, while the three ALOS-2 image scenes use the RGB composite method.

This paper presents the results of applying geoinformatics technology in early detection of forest fires in Vietnam. Two methods were used to detect forest fires, including (1) Using ground monitoring equipment: applying algorithms to detect smoke and fire from the series of "forest fire" recorded by IP Camera, characteristics of smoke, such as color, movement and expandable properties used in fire detection; accuracy of algorithm for fire detection with video frames is 97% and with image frames from digital cameras is 100%; Ground monitoring equipment can detect 84.

This approach utilizes the You Only Look Once (YOLO) v3 algorithm combined with a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to early detect and assess fire rick for indoors alert. The results showed that the proposed solution is promising for decision making and early handling fire beforehand to ensure the safety inside buildings.

The objective of this study is to investigate the hotspot (fires and other thermal anomalies) detection and characterization product from the TET-1 satellite sensing system from the German Aerospace Centre (DLR). The satellite is envisioned, as part of a constellation of satellites, to provide detection and characterization of fires at a higher spatial resolution when compared to the current standard global coverage from the MODIS fire products.

There are physiological changes in pathologies such as Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) within the lower vestibuloacoustic system, which may be potentially useful when used as neurodegeneration features. We hypothesize two Electrovestibulography feature types (Field Potential (FP) shape and the Firing pattern of detected FP’s) may have utility as Neurodegeneration features.

Arc fault is one of the important reasons of electrical fires. In virtue of cross talk, randomness and weakness of series arc faults in low-voltage circuits, very few of techniques have been well used to protect loads from series arc faults. Thus, a novel detection method based on support vector machine is developed in this paper.

The favorable localization features of discrete wavelet provide a new method for detecting the mutational points of electric spark signal. In this paper, by means of discrete wavelet function called db5, using the way of 6 scales wavelet, analyzing the gathered electric spark signal and by extracting the modulus maxima of the 6 layers detailed signal coefficient, the signal’s mutational points were located exactly and successfully.

In this paper, the methodological analysis for a solution of early detection of RGPO jamming, by simultaneously using information of AGC voltage surge and variation of Doppler frequency spectrum of target signal is discussed. An algorithm for determination of RGPO rule based on power regression is also discribed.

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) consist of wireless sensor nodes, where the choice of their deployment scheme depends highly on the type of sensors, their application, and the environment they will operate in. The performance of WSNs can be affected if the network is deployed under different topologies. In this paper various strategies for positioning nodes in WSNs for fire detection (grid, triangular and strip) are discussed.

Interview participants concurred that trust, respect, and appreciation must be developed over time and that having the same people involved over a longer period of time helps create and maintain a culture of trust. The length of board terms was one example given. The longer the term (or the number of terms allowed), the more the board member’s knowledge grows thereby increasing trust and the continuity for maintaining that culture of trust.

Second, board members in these small organizations often do double duty. One mo- ment they are directors who set policy and supervise the executive. The next moment, they are volunteer staff who greet new clients, stuff envelopes, or run the phone tree for the annual fundraiser. This is an inherent and unavoidable conflict of interest (though it is manageable). The board members are supervising the executive in their policy role, and doing the executive’s bidding in their staff volunteer role.

Poultry production systems have been in existence for a long time. According to archaeological evidence, poultry production in Viet Nam began 3 000–3 500 years ago in the valley of TamDao and BaVi mountain areas (currently belonging to VinhPhuc and Hanoi Provinces). Poultry is raised and well developed in all regions of the country, mainly in Red River Delta (RRD) with 26 percent, followed by Mekong River Delta (MRD) with 20 percent, the northeast with 16 percent and Northeast South with 10 percent.

Access Economics’ estimates for value added and employment attributable to the international education sector are reported in Table 5 below. Total expenditure on international services in Australia of $14.1 billion resulted in a value added of around $12.6 billion and accounted for 126,240 full‐time equivalent (FTE) jobs being created. On a per capita basis, the average international student spent $32,376 in 2007‐08, resulting in value added creation of around $28,921 and 0.29 FTE positions as a result. ...

In this paper, we study the problem of complex event detection (CED) in a monitoring environment that consists of potentially a large number of distributed event sources (e.g., hardware sensors or software receptors). CED is becoming a fundamental capability in many domains including network and infrastructure security (e.g., denial of service attacks and intrusion detection [22]) and phenomenon and activity tracking (e.g., fire detection, storm detection, tracking suspicious behavior [23]).
